Goals:
- Prevent the opponent fromplaying forward or denypenetration from dribble
- Force an inaccurate passand/or a ball that’s hardto control
- Regain the ball
KP:

SETUP
Balls, cones, 1 large net, 3 small nets, 7 black pinnies and 6 yellow pinnies
Instructions
Activity: 7v6 with attacking team looking to finish in any of the 3 small nets.
Yellow team defending and upon regain of possession, looks to counter in the large net.
Black plays a 1-4-2 and the yellow team plays a 4-3.
Restarts from the GK. Regular laws of the game.
Coaching Points
1. Deny the opponent from playing forward by pass or dribble by getting organized and balance and maintain compactness and eliminate passing centrally.
2. Nearest defender/midfielder presses the player with the ball, cover and balance.
3. Balance - distance between players

Equipment
6 small nets, soccer balls, 6 yellow pinnies, 7 black pinnies
Instructions
Activity: 7 vs 6 game with the black team playing a 4-1-2 and the yellow team playing a 1-2-3. All restarts from the black team. Both teams look to attack 3 small nets. Regular laws of the game.
Coaching Points
1. Nearest defender/midfielder pressures the ball to prevent forward pass. Secondary player tries to close off forward passing lanes.
2. Midfield unit to move as a group as the balll travels. Press the ball, get into covering positions.
3. Balance out midfield unit in an effort to create a block nearest to the threat.
4. Communication from defending players to assist with body positioning in relation to the ball and oppoents.
