Description

WHAT - In possession, the Team is not able to progress the ball forward

WHERE - Defensive third into middle third

WHO - 1,2,3,4,5,6,8

WHEN - When the opponent press high

WHY - The team is not able to spread out well enough and triangulate to create passing options. Our CMs do not recognize the correct moment to drop & provide numerical overloads necessary for ball progression.

Activity 1 (15 mins)

Organization:

15x15 yeards - 8 players

Instructions

5 vs. 3 Rondo

Scoring system: The attacking team will get the point for connecting 15 passes together, where the split pass count as 3. Defending team will get a point for winning the ball and dribbling outside the box.

Defenders should rotate, and coaches should keep score to determine winner team.

Intervals:

1.5 x 6 with 1 min rest = 14 min total

Coaching Points:

  • If you see the gap, then go for it (play forward)
  • Quality of the pass to allow play first touch (speed of play)
  • How can we create more space for the outside players? Quick switch - play central to attract first, then go wide.
  • What is the wide player's 1st option after receiving the ball? What will determine his decision?
