Defensive Warm-Up Progression:
1) Players back pedal while calling out the number the coach puts up while standing behind.Players then jockey doing the same thing.
2) Players partner up and face each other. One is running diagonally forward forcing the other player to shuffle and shift hip position while going backwards. Player running forward isn't going 100%.
3) Player running forward now does the same thing but at some point takes off and tries to beat defender. Defender must perfect the crossover run to keep attacker in front.
4) Now attacker has choice to break off and run through one of the two side gates. Defender must react quickly and follow.

2 teams vs 1 team. 30 x 30 yards.
Progression:
1) 2 min games: one team defends the whole time. Count how many times they disrupt the play. Switch defending team after two minutes. Two losing teams have fitness.
2) 2 min games: if defending team regains the ball. Every two passes they connect is one point. Switch teams after two minutes.
3) 7 min games: team that loses the ball, is now in the middle. If team connects 8 passes, then defending team has to sprint to endline and back.
Variation:
- If defending team gets more than 8 passes played against them, they have to sprint to end and back.
- if you get ten passes against you, you lose the game.
Coaching points: If one or two go 100% and the other players for 50% or 80% it won't work. Prevent long ball.
-The team in the middle needs to press high but also stay compact. Nothing gets played through the middle.

2) Progress to Line: attackers get one point if they dribble or cross the 18 yard line
3) Progress to goal: attackers get one point if they score on goal
Coaching Points: Close the seams, they don't beat you inside. Force attackers wide but don't get beat line. Low, aggressive, get in their grill. Only tackle if you're 100% sure to win it.
Stay connected, step ball hard, cover angle hard, sprint hard, stay compact.
