Send Them In
Function
Set up two 20x20 playing areas side by side.
Divide the players into two groups, numbering each player in sequence.
Each team stays in its own half and tries to keep possession of the ball.
The coach calls out a number. The player with that number runs into the opposing team's half and tries to win the ball.
The defender who wins the ball first or forces the other team to pass the ball outside the square earns a point for their team.
Progression / Variation
Add additional defenders.
Limit the number of touches.
Coaching Points
Focus on the weight and accuracy of the pass.
Provide support by creating good passing angles and maintaining appropriate distances.
Pass with purpose—commit defenders and play into space or to the safe side of the receiver.
Make the pitch big—use width and depth effectively.

Three Zone Possession Drill
Function
Mark out a pitch with three zones and two mini goals at each end.
Divide the players into two equal teams, separate the players in the three zones eg two from each team.
Players are restricted to their zone.
Teams look to maintain possession while playing through the lines as quick as possible and look to score in either of the mini goals.
Progression / Variation
Rotate players zones.
Open play so teams can attack and score at either end.
One goal.
Limit touches.
Players can follow forward passes to create overloads.
Coaching Points
Quick combinations and two player moves.
Create space as a team — utilize depth and width in attack.
Ensure quality passing — focus on pace, accuracy, timing, and disguise.
Maintain composure — be patient while waiting for effective passing options.
Play between the lines — pass through defenders to break lines and switch the field.

Multi-Directional Break Out Game
Function
Split the field into thirds, with the middle zone being larger and a goal at each end.
Divide the players into two equal teams, with a neutral goalkeeper in each goal.
Both teams start in the middle zone.
The coach (C) plays the ball into the possession team.
The possession team should attempt to complete a set number of consecutive passes before breaking out of the central area to attack in a 2v1 against the nearest defender and attempt to score in the nearest goal.
If the ball goes out of play or the team fails to score after breaking out, the coach feeds another ball to one of the teams for the practice to continue.
If the out-of-possession team gains control of the ball, they must also complete a set number of passes before breaking out.
Progression / Variation
Any additional players can act as neutrals (Jokers/Magic Men).

Pass By Numbers
Function
Set up two 20x20 playing areas side by side.
Divide the players into two groups, numbering each player in sequence.
Player one must pass to player two, player two to three, three to four, and so on, with the last player passing back to player one.
This is a great warm-up game, so encourage players to stay on the move at all times—no one should be standing still.
Players should use their control to set up the next pass in order to speed up the game.
Progression / Variation
Depending on the size and ability of the group, you can introduce another ball, with player one and player four starting with a ball.
Limit the number of touches.
Coaching Points
Communication: Call for the ball and say the name of the player you're passing to.
Relax: Don’t rush the pass—think about who you’re passing to and where they are.
Approach to the Ball: Line up with where the ball is going.
Type of Pass: Use an inside push pass, driven pass, or lofted pass. Inside push pass: Make an "L" shape with the non-kicking foot placed next to the ball and the kicking foot following through in an “L” motion.
Follow Through: Use your body to generate power.
Focus on Weight and Accuracy: Both are very important for an effective pass.
