Distribute effectively
Be an option when defenders are in possession.
Communicate with outfield players.
Out of Possession
Organise the defence.
Sweeper/keeper when the defence pushes up.
Make saves - catch, parry or punch.

Try to get on the ball from the Goalkeeper.
Outside CB pull wide when GK in possession.
Look for forward passes which break lines.
Out of Possession
Awareness of vulnerable areas of the pitch.
Keep compact, work as a Unit.
Organise the players in front of you.

Central Midfielders
In Possession
Try to release wide midfield players with passes which break lines.
Try to get on the ball from the GK and CBs.
Play forward quickly when possible.
Out of Possession
One to drop in as a supplementary CB if CBs are pulled wide.
Provide a defensive screen, block balls into striker's feet.
Work together to disrupt the opposition midfield build up play (block, tackle, intercept, spoil).
NOTE - if one player goes forward the other should sit and protect!

Wide Midfield
In Possession
Give width to the team when we have the ball.
Provide crosses when high up the pitch.
Try to play strikers in in-between the lines.
Out of Possession
Provide defensive cover in wide areas.
Stop opposition crosses.
Track wide players.

Number 10
In Possession
Try to link play from midfield to strikers.
Combine with forwards to play balls between lines or into wide players.
Get into goal scoring positions in and around the box.
Out of Possession
Direct the forwards to block the opposition defence playing out.
Try to prevent the opposition playing out through a midfield sitter or centre back.
Drop into a central position if our wide midfield players are defending deep.

Central Strikers
In Possession
Combine with defenders/midfield players to advance the ball up the pitch.
Be prepared to make runs beyond the last line of defence.
Interchange with the other players in attacking positions to move the defence around.
FINISH CHANCES!
Out of Possession
Try to make play predictable.
Force their defenders to play risky passes.
Try to prevent the ball going into midfield & win the ball from the wrong side.
