Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): Turning Gate

Turning Gate (15 mins)

- Balls start with outside players, players inside look for a gate to receive and turn at

- They must go through the gate and turn out either side, not back through the gate.

- They also cannot allow the ball to travel through the gate before receiving

- Once they have received, they must find a free wall player

- Passers must wait for a call before passing, they must pass with good weight and timing

- Rotate players

Progression:

- Place a defender in the middle

- Players must learn to time their move to the gate and release before being tackled

Progression 2:

- Receive a high ball

Variations:

- Turn with the instep of both feet

- Turn with the outstep of both feet

- Sole roll, inverted turn

- Ronaldo chop

Coach:

-Calling for the ball at the right point

- Head up as they turn to find a free wall player
