Gate game

Gate game (30 min).

Field set up:

30 steps long.

30 steps wide.

Players get into pairs, one ball between the pair.

1) Coach calls "GO"

2) The pairs have 1 minute to score as many goals as possible.

3) A goal is scored by one player passing the ball through a red gate to his/her partner.

4) After scoring, pairs must score through a different gate before they are allowed to return to the same gate.

5) The pair with the most amount of gates scored after the minute are the winners.

Progressions: 

1) Left foot passing only when scoring a goal through a gate.

2) Weak foot dribbling and passing only.

3) A bounce pass must be completed between the pair at each gate.

Coach note: How to identify where the free gates are (scanning) head up dribbling.

Directional first touch towards the next free gate after scoring.

Communication between the pair.

4v4 free play

4v4 Game. Two teams (30 mins).

Feild set up:

24 steps wide.

36 steps long.

1) Balls will always start from the goal (when the ball goes out).

2) Free play

3) When a player scores, they must run around the goal before entering back in the field of play.

Note: Coach - positions / structure. (It is easier to keep the ball when there is positional structure and therefore set options)

From the goal kick, 2 player wide and deep to receive.
