Ball Manipulation
- Each player with a ball
- Grid spaced depending on numbers of players. Ensure the space forces players to play close enough to one another to ensure decision making while moving in the space.
- Have players start with various dribbling techniques:
- Inside and outside
- Toe Taps
- Foundation
- Dragging the ball with the sole of the foot
Introduce numbers to go with a skill:
1. Fake Take
2. Fake Fake Take
3. Circle Take
4. Circle Circle Take
5. Fake Circle Take
6. Circle Fake Take
7. Step Fake Take
8. Step Circle Take
9. Okocha
10. Snake/Elastico
* Have players talk to their feet and call out the skill when the coach calls the number (E.g. Coach says, "1!" Player says, "Fake Take!" completes skill and continues to dribble).

Combination Play Basics - The Overlap
Player A Plays Across to Player B.
Player B Moves First Touch Inside diagonal and forward towards the defender.
Player A overlaps Player B.
Player B plays out to opposite End.
Players A and B join the back of the queue.
Progression #1
Progression is to have the player with the ball do a trick faking the direction of the overlap and dribbling out the other side.
Progression #2
After player B does their trick away from the overlapping run, they then reverse the pass into their run to allow overlapping runner to continue the move.

Give and Go (1-2) Introduction
8 x 8 grid
Player 1 passes to player 2, player 2 passes to player 3, player 3 then dribbles at player 1 and performs a give and go (1-2) with player 2 around player 1 and fills the end of the queue. Player 1 takes player 2's spot while player 2 takes player 3's spot.
Details.
Passes on the proper foot.
Player 2 must check away, check to, check shoulder, fix shape, receive on the half turn and use the far foot from the ball to pass to player 3. Player 3 must be sure to talk and call for the give and go (1-2) and run around the defender, not in front.
Player 1 must apply pressure with proper speed (too fast and the give and go isn't there, too slow and it isn't realistic).

Set up:
20x15 yard area. 2 goals and 2 goalkeepers. 2 teams on each side as shown.
Instructions:
Play 2v2 or 3v3 (increase area for 3v3). GK starts play by serving in. Play until ball is 'dead' or goal is scored in which case new players from each team come in. First to 5 win, best of 3 series (if possible).
Coaching emphasis:
Intensity, compete to score or prevent being scored on in a short period of time.
Creating chances: combination play, creative movement, 1v1 skill, 1-2's, overlaps, etc.

Set-Up: As many tall cones as you will need (depending on the number of players you have) placed in a big circle. In the middle of the circle place as many discs as you have scattered like in the picture above.
Instruction: Divide your group into lines of 2 or 3. They stand behind the tall cones. On coaches demand, the first player in line each runs as fast as they can to get 1 disc and bring it back to their cone. They place the disc on the tall cone and say go to the next person in line. Continue until there are no discs left. Whichever team has collected the most discs wins! Get players to take the discs off their cone, and scatter them back into the middle. Then you can play again.
Progressions:
1. To get to the discs you must run backwards.
2. To get to the discs you must hop on 1 foot, or two feet.
3. To get to the discs you must bear crawl.
