Description: Passing Pattern to increase Speed of Play
Why - Increase speed of play, thought, action & execution on & around the ball. Individual action, 2-man combinations & 3rd man play
Principles - Attacking: Break Lines with Your Passes to Advance the Attack.
Principles - Transition to Attack: Think Vertically. First Pass Forward. If Not On to Continue to Penetrate, Maintain Possession.
Phase of Play: IP
Coaching Points: Movement to create angles and vertical layers - speed of play, 1-touch/3 sec soccer on the ball. Leave your pass to be played 1-touch for the next man (speed the game up), timing & cues of support & support angles, Do Not Block vertical passing lines. Pass to the correct part of the correct foot, to send a message with your pass.
Playing rhythm of playing In-to-Out and Out-to-In.
Individual Focus: pre-movement & movement create space/receive the ball. Visual awareness, see surroundings. Adapt body-shape to offer change point of attack through bod positioning.
Grid/Field Size: 20ydL x 15ydW
Reps/Time: 3x 4 min Rds
Progressions: 1. Wall-pass, vertical pass, receive & turn, play out & follow your pass. Sequence: 1-2, 2-1, 1-3, 3-4, 4-5 and action re-starts at opposite end. Replace the number you passed to in position.
2. Up-back- & Through. Support under receivers eye-line with back to goal. Leave your layoff/set pass to be played 1-touch. A 1-touch playable pass should indicate the next pass can be played vertical. : 1-2, 2-1, 1-3, 3-2, 2-4, (2 follows pass out) 4-5 & continue from 5. 5-3, etc...
3. Play into highest central target player; look vertical/highest option first! Bounce pass underneath and play out from there. Sequence: 1-3, 3-2, 2-4, 4-5 and repeat from opposite end; 5-3...
