C Licence Topic: Coach the technique and/or skill of pressure with the 2 players closest to the ball (coaching 1 v 1 and coverage) as soon as the team loses possession

Organization: 4 stations ( 4 teams x 3 Players) - Speed, Agility & Ball Mastery work; Station 1 - set up 4 cones on angles from one another about 5 yards apart Station 2 - setup a long ladder on the floor Station 3 - set up 4 small hurdles, one in front of the other Station 4 - set up 4 poles one in front of the other; 4 balls placed on cones at the end of agility circuit
Activity:
Each group will go through each one of the 4 speed/agility circuits; when they reach the ball, the player must perform a ball mastery activity as dictated by the coach; on return player is to place the ball back on the cone and sprint to the end of the line and tag the next player; returning player must take a knee once they have completed the circuit
1. Cones - sharp change of direction on cutting movement; plan outside foot and use in-step to change direction
2. Ladders - coordination & precision over ladders - one step in, fast feet
3. Hurdles - knees up and explode as toes touch ground - 2 foot hops;
4. Agility poles - lateral movements through poles-hips forward, leg power to change direction
Ball Mastery:
Round 1 - toe taps forward then toe taps backwards on return
Round 2 - sole of the foot using right foot forward; sole of the foot using left foot on return
Round 3 - inside/outside right foot forward; inside/outside left foot on return
Round 4 - dribble with laces right foot forward; dribble with laces left foot return
Progressions - ask players to perform a unique turn to dribble back - i.e. pull back, inside turn, outside turn etc..

Organization:
Setup 3 grids, 15 x 5 yds; 4 players per grid - 2 pinnie, 2 non-pinnie
Activity:
1. Players c & d pass back and forth while players a and b put pressure and support.
2. Players c & d will pass slowly back and forth so it gives a and b time to back peddle to support and also angle of approach to put pressure.
3. Players a and b are to play passively, not looking to win the ball simply looking to teeter-totter between pressure/support roles
4. When they get to the end of the grid, players swap roles and a & b pass back & forth while players c & d put pressure & support
Progressions:
1. After about 2 minutes, have attacking players switch positions or overlap as they progress through the grid, so the defenders can adjust pressure/support positions & communicate their adjustments
2. When players switch from defending to attacking, they must do 3 push ups before starting to pass again
Key Defending/Support Coaching Points:
1. Can the first defender close down quickly on player B and depending on player B first touch - do they become patient and jockey to delay or should they win the ball immediately if the first touch is poor
2. Can the 2nd defender come in and help the first defender by always telling them the side they are supporting, can they get into a good angle of support to take the goal away
3. If the first defender gets beat, can the 2nd defender step in as cover and can the first defender now get immediately into a good support position

Organization:Area - Full 1/4 field; Dimensions 40 x 55 yards; Pinnies vs Non Pinnies; 2 teams play SSG 6 v 6 - Team A : 1 goalie and formation is 3-1-1, Team B: plays 1 goalie and formation is 2-1-2; Yellow cones represent retreat line; plenty of soccer balls on the outside of the field and by the goalie nets
Activity:
1. 2 teams play 6 v 6 game in the stated formations - no throw ins or corner kicks; there are no offsides
2. When a goal is scored or a ball is played out for a throw-in or behind the goal line, the defending team must go back to the retreat line and the game will reset with the goalie of the attacking team; ball becomes live once the goalie plays the ball to a teammate
3. Teams get points for scoring goals on opposing net
Progressions:
1. When the ball goes out, play restarts immediately with attacking team at the point of where the ball left the field of play
Key Defending/Support Coaching Points:
1. How quickly can we delay the attacking team forward progress - speed and angle of approach on player in possession of the ball
2. Depending on the players first touch, can we stay patient and not lunge into tackle
3. As we lose the ball, are we getting compact first and then supporting the man and ball
4. Are our support players in good positions - near, far, wide - to effectively defend/support as a unit

Organization:Area - 25 x 20 yards; Pinnie/Non Pinnie; Setup 2 grids 15 yds long by 8 yards wide - Blue cones represent the goal; Player A are your defenders, Player B are your attackers - 4 players start as A-they pair up as defenders and 2 players start as B - individual attackers; plenty of balls available for player A
Activity:
1. Player A - 1 of the pair starts by passing a ball to Player B; Player B looks to beat the oncoming 2 defenders and dribble through the blue gates (the goal)
2. The defending Player A's - once player B touches the ball, the 2 defenders look to pressure Player B, win the ball and dribble through the 2 red cones
3 The 2 Players A's - one defender must put immediate pressure on the ball & look to close down quickly on player B to delay forward progress; the 2nd defender must support on an angle, ballside & goalside, approximately 3-5 yards away
4. Rotate players between defending & attacking
Progressions:
1. 2 defending players put immediate pressure on attacker as the pass is played into player B; the 2nd defender must tell the 1st defender which side she is helping on
2. Once a defender wins the ball, they will look to make a pass to the other defender who plays back to the other Player A's
3. Can they try to win the ball and retain possession

Activity:
1. Allow free play with 2 teams playing 6 v6, following the laws of the game with the exception of touchline restarts
2. Touchline Restarts: Players can either kick in or dribble in from the touch lines,

Organization:
Setup - organize group into a large circle approximately 15 x 15 yards
Activity:
1. Begin cool down by having the group do a few minutes of slow jogging around the circle
2. Then move on to start some static stretching exercises in the circle - work from the bottom up with stretches starting with ankle, achilles, hamstrings, quads, groin, torso, arms, shoulders, neck
3. Each stretch should be held for 3-5 seconds so we can maximize the stretch and promote a speedy recovery
4. Remind the group to fuel up with a good post game beverage like chocolate milk
Key Cool down Points:
1. Maximize the stretch
2. Hold the stretch for as long as you can
