Warm Up (10 mins)

Objective -

Warm Up - Activation - Technique


Description -

Working GK will be on their knees and receive a volley, before extending their leg and body into a foot save position alternating between the balls to the left and right. Will move to standing position on first drill progression.
Rotate through after 5 each side.


Equipment -
3 Balls + Spare, 6 soft blow up balls


Coaching Points -
- Do not move to the block save early
- Maintain a forward body position
- Consider angle of foot for direction of save


Progression 1 -

Balls moved further back on same angle. GK1 recevies a scoop ball before moving toward left/right stationary
balls to simulate a block save shape.
2 - GK2 & GK3 will strike the stationary balls as GK1 gets into Foot/Block save position

Technical Activation (10 mins)

Objective -

Warm Up - Technique - Competition


Description -

Working GK will receive a ball on the ground to which they must complete a foot save and try to score in between the yellow cones. GK2 & GK3 must defend their yellow goal with either a foot or block save.

Rotate through after 5 each side.


Equipment -

3 Balls + Spare, 6 soft blow up balls

Coaching Points -

- Do not move to the block save early

- Maintain a forward body position

- Consider angle of foot for direction of save

Phase One (15 mins)

Objective - 

Decision Making - Technique & Balance - Reactions - Match Scenario


Description - Coach will pass the ball to GK4 (Centre) who will make a decision to either turn on the ball and attack GK1's goal, or play a first time strike toward GK2 & GK3's small goals. Players must track the ball from the original pass and get in line for the strike.
Rotate through after 5 for each keeper.


Equipment -
3 Balls + Spare, 2 small pop up goals


Coaching Points -

- Track the ball
- Maintain a forward body position
- Considering angle of foot for direction of save
- Maintain balance through the block & foot save
- Head and Hip Rotation


Progression 1 - Coach may strike the ball directly on goal

Phase Two (15 mins)

Objective -

Decision Making - Technique & Balance - Reactions - Match Scenario


Description -

Coach has 4 options, strike on goal, pass to GK4 who can either turn or strike on GK2's small goal, pass directly to GK3 who can take a touch and strike on goal or play a through ball infront of the mannequin for GK3 to run on to and GK1 to make a decision to cut out the pass or hold position. Rotate after 6 each keeper and switch sides.


Equipment - 

6 Balls, 1 small pop up goal, 1 mannequin


Coaching Points - 

- Track the ball
- Maintain a forward body position
- Considering angle of foot for direction of save
- Maintain balance through the block & foot save
- Head and Hip Rotation


Progression 1 - 

1 - GK4 may bounce the ball back to coach or GK3 for a strike on goal.
2 - GK3 may play the ball into GK4
