Rondo circle 4v2- Warm up (10 mins)

Organization:

1. 4v2 in the circle.

2. Player in the middle must hold a yellow pinee.

3. 12 yard circle.

4. Extra balls outside.

5. Plays for 12 minutes.

Instructions:

1. Defenders must intercept the ball to get out of the middle.

2. If the ball leaves the circle the player who was at fault is in the middle.

3. First six minutes two touch, last six minutes one touch.

4. When defenders win the ball, longest player in goes out no matter who intercepts.

*Scoring progression*

a. 3 minutes- six passes in a row. (defenders stay in again)

b. 3 minutes- eight passes in a row. (defenders stay in again)

c. 3 minutes- ten passes in a row or a meg. (defenders stay in again, player who got megged stays in)

d. 3 minutes- ten passes in a row, a meg or a split. (defenders stay in again, player who got megged stays in)

Coaching Points:

1. Player on the ball should always have three options.

2. High workrate off the ball to adjust your position to be an option.

3. Head up before you receive the ball to see where you're going to play next.

4. Anticipate where the ball is going and move accordingly.

5. Disguise your passes.

Slalom 1v1- Finishing unopposed (10 mins)

Organization:

1. Six players: GK, four players with a ball, one player with out a ball.

2. Every player takes a turn through the red cones and then through the blue cone. (Player B must swith orange cones when dribblers switch between red and blue)

Instructions:

1. Player A dribbles though red cones. Once past the last cone he passes to player B for a give and go. Finish 1v1 against the keeper.

2. Rotation: After player A shoots he immediately replaces player B. Player B chases the ball just shot and returns to the back of the line.

3. Goalkeeper can't leave his line until player B touches the ball.

4. Red- pass to player B with left foot. Blue- pass to player B with right foot.

5. Progression: Right foot only, left foot only, both feet.

Coaching Points:

1. Small tight touches through the cones. Keep the ball under control all the way though.

2. Proper weight of pass so return pass is one touch.

3. Head up to locate goalkeeper.

4. Head down to finish.

5. Positive first touch out of feet on return pass to set up the shot.

Progressions:

1. No look pass/ finish.

2. After ten minutes- GK can leave line on player A's pass.

3. After ten minutes- First touch finish.

Funnel 2v2+1 to goal (15 mins)

Organization:

1. 2v2+1+GK

Instructions:

1. All players must touch the ball before playing a through ball.

2. Ball must be met in unshaded area.

3. No defender is allowed to track.

4. First team to three goals or six minutes. Whichever comes first. Rotate teams and GKs

5. If a team scores they keep possesion.

6. If the GK makes a save, the team that shot keeps possession. (one rebound chance)

7. If shooter misses target, they lose possession.

8. Restarts come from the keeper.

Coaching Points:

1. Player on the ball should always have two options. (Movement off the ball)

2. Be patient in possesion. Take what the defense is giving you. (don't force the through ball, keep posession if it's not on)

3. Weight and height of the through pass.

Progressions:

1. One defender is allowed to track.

2. Second attacker can join.

5v5 Game (15 mins)

Organization:

1-3-1 both teams.

Coaching Points:

1. Movement off the ball. Player on the ball should always have three options.

2. Winger stay wide when in possession.

3. When ball is on the wing, weak side winger shouldn't be higher then the ball.

4. Play backwards to keep possession.

Progressions:

1. One touch finish equals two points.

2. Limit touches. (two touch) (one touch)

3. Six passes before going to goal.
