Head/Shoulder/Knee/Toe

Method:

  • Working in two's
  • Coach calls Head/Shoulders/Knees/Toes/Turn (or what ever instructions you like)
  • Players must react to calls
  • If coach calls colour of a cone, player must try pick up opposite. E.g. 'Orange' cone, players must sprint to 'Blue' cone. Player that loses must do forfeit (tuck jumps/push ups etc.)
  • Distance can very, depending how much work you want player to do

Coaching Points:

  • Good reaction times
  • Observation - e.g. going to correct cone
  • Works as warm up but also bit of fun. Can also be hard work! If move blue cone further away it can be running drill.
  • Players should show some physicality when trying to get to 'Blue' cone, i.e. use body to keep other player away or get in front
