3 cone movement drill.
2 players stand to either side of 3 cones with 1 player having a ball and 2 goal keeper working.
From the outside of the cone the goal keeper turns his to touch the cone behind then gets thier head up to catch the server and get into a step-set position where the server will volley to the keepers chest.
This repeated on both sides.
Progressions:
- Server plays a dipping volley for the keepers to quickly redirect their shape to scoop the ball and safely land to control the pace of the ball.
- As the goal-keeper gets into set position server plays the ball to either side for the keeper to make a casual collapse dive onto either side.
Coaching Cues:
- Ensure Keepers are getting the correct setting technique for the dive or the scoop.
- Ensure quick feet in between the cones to ensure match realistic pace when facing a volley.

Keeper begins by setting between the 2 cones to receive from server in-front of them, once collected returns ball to server.
Keeper then moves aroud the corner cone to set between two other cones where they will face a shot coming from either directly ahead or diagonally infront to work on angles.
Upon collection of the second ball in, Keeper rolls down the ball as a goal-kick and plays either a driven or lobbed ball to the on-waiting striker.
Progression:
Once collecting the first serve the keeper can send the ball to waiting striker who can shoot either first time or can take a touch then shoot.

Distribution/ Shot stopping drill.
1 goal keeper is set up infront of the goals. 2 recievers are positioned at a distance to receive forward passes. As well as 2 servers in between the 6-yard and 18-yard box.
Play begins with a ball being sent from a server to the goal keeper who takes the ball to simulate claiming a cross/cut back.
The ball is then rolled out by the goal keeper to one of the 3 players sitting on the edge of the box. Once the striker receives the ball the game is live and he can decide which type of ball to play. either a direct shot on goal or a layed off pass for their team-mate on either side.
Ball rotation is continuous to ensure no players a standing around.
Progression:
- Servers provide match pressure to the goal keepers to release the ball to the receivers.
- Players who recieve the ball out wide can take a touch wider to be able to perform a cross or a cut-back.
