Session outcomes-
Working on the key principles we worked on in the un-opposed drill. Look again for the quality of the pass, the movements on, around and away from the ball and how many potential goalscoring opportunities are created.
Detail for players-
CM (8 & 4)- Look at movement on, around and away from the ball. Looking at the angles they create if the play is switched and if their movement and angles created can force a potential overload. The quality of pass is key to breaking the lines, look at pace and precision. Can they look to step in once play has advanced??
Wingers (7 & 11)- Look at the movement they create. Look to try and arch their runs to pull a defender wide to create a potential opening to exploit for one of the other attackers. Can they create a 1v1 situation with the defending full back, can they beat them? Quality of cross to the attacking 9 and 10. If an opportunity isnt on to play forward or inside then can they switch play? Look at body position, Receiving ball on furthest foot to play forward, keep open and not too square.
Strikers (9 & 10)- Again the movement of the players to create goalscoring opportunities. Can the 10 look to rceeive the ball with back to goal and create openings for the CM 8 and 4 or can they look to set up the wingers with a quality pass. Attack with power and pace. Force defenders deep. Can the movement of the 10 create a possible overload? 9 looks to play on the shoulder of the last player, be quick to intercept a loose ball or to finish an attacking move off. Movement of 9 key to creating openings, can they arch their run to create space to exploit. Play with pace. Be on toes to react. Quality in finish.
Targets-
Attackers to score in the goal. Defending team to score in the mini goals.

What is the aim of the session?-
The aim of the session is to look at creating attacking opportunities using realistic and possible match scenarios. Looking closely at the timing of players runs. Movement on, around and away from the ball of the players. Creating attacking opportunities. The quality of the pass into feet or space. Decision making on when to make the pass or to make the movement and most importantly scoring.
Key Coaching points-
Quality of pass- Is there enough pace behind it and area of the pitch to aim for.
Movement of players
Body position- Open body of wingers to look to play forwards.
Communication
Once progressed- Switching play and creating overloads
Progression-
Look to switch play. Again looking at pace and quality of pass. Look at the key movement as a unit across the pitch. In the situation of the play switching look to work with each player to give detail on position. Look at possibilty of creating an overload in key attacking areas and create realistic game scenarios.
