Function

Setup

4 v 4 (1 x feeder, 3 attacking blue players/ twin screen midfield red and 2 centre halves)

Function:

Feeder passes to one of two blue midfielders. Blue midfielders goal is to find No 10 Blue in zone 14. Feeder can go straight into number 10 (keeps the twin screen narrow)

Key Points:

Technical:

1. Body position in relation to ball and No 10.

2. Movement to close down and which way to show player.

Physical:

1. Speed- Movet speed to close down player and support

2. Power - Acceleration and deceleration

3. Awareness - Peripheral sight to close down relevant space and to block pass.

Psych:

1. Concentration to carry out job

2. Decision making

Social:

1. Communication

2. Conflict

Starting position for twin screen:

Twin screen must start behind poles and can close down midfield 2 blue once feeder has passed ball. Coach red team with a twin screen to stop ball passed into Zone 14

Coach 2 x red central defenders to close down No 10 Blue if he does receive ball.

Starting position for 2 central defenders is behind 2nd set of poles they can only enter area once the no.10 has recieved the ball.

Progression:

Include extra striker to make defenders think of what if's?

Give attacking players target of scoring once No 10 receives

1.Feeder passes to attacking midfielder

2. Closest red midfielder to close down blue midfielder (Show outfield/Infield - depending on picture)

3. Other red midfielder to support by moving into position to stop pass into No10 (Angles/Ditances)

1. Blue midfielder can now either pass back to feeder or pass to supporting blue midfielder.

2. If ball transfers to other blue midfielder, closest red midfileder is to close down and stop passing angle into no10.

3. Other red midfielder is to support creating agood angle and ditance to stop passing channel into No10.

1. Red midfielder closing down blue midfielder is to show out which allows him to cut off pass down line and shows him away from goal.

1. If Twin screen fails to stop ball into No10, can 2 central defenders deal with No10.

2. Central defenders must start behind the poles and as ball is played into No10, they can move to defend.

3. Can closest defender close down No10 and stop him from turning.

4. Other Centre half to provide cover with good angle and distance in reltaion to no10 and danger.

1. As No10 receives and central defenders are in good defensive position, can twin screen support from the front and apply pressure to No10.

Format: 1-4-2-1-1 v 1-3-3-1-1

Coach Red Team:

Concentrate on twin screen and back four in how they defend against a ball into zone 14.

Conditions:

Blue team will score 2 goals if they score by playing through Zone 14.

Red team are to score within 20 seconds

Key Points:

Defensive 4 to remain compact and apply pressure on Striker and No 10 if ball is received in Zone 14.

Distance between Def and twin screen key as if too big, big gaps will appear. Distance between twin screen also key to stop ball into zone 14. Twin screen objective is to show attacking midfielders away from zone 14. If ball is successfull in getting into zone 14, can twin screen apply pressure from the front to steal ball and counter blue team.
