General Practice (5 mins)
Welsh Way Principle- Playing through , over and around
- Understand when and how to play through around or over the opposition based on the type of pressure applied.
Organisation- Width - 18 yard box , Length 20m.
- 5 Blues and 5 Reds.
- 3v3 in middle of the area , 2 reds and 2 blues on the outside of the area.
- 3 x 3 mins Periods of play with (1 Minute rest period in between the plays)
Explaination- The aim and objective of the team in possession is too play through , over and around the area and too transfer the ball from one side of the area to the other side breaking through the lines using the middle players or passing long and transferring the ball to the opposite side same colour. The session will start unopposed and the same colour will pass to each other.
Progressions- Progression of the session is to create a 3v3 situation in the middle of the area with one ball and can the reds transfer the ball by passing through, over or around to each other without the blues winning the ball back.
- 2nd Progressions if a red team is in possession and passes it too a red on the outside red player that red player can come into the area and create a 4v3 overload situation if they managed to get all 5 reds in the middle of the area and have a 5v3 situation and overload. The team that makes 10 passes with all 5 colours in the middle wins.
Coach- The coach is too work with one team and too talk to them about the coaching process and mechanics of passing and receiving the ball and best way to break through the lines or pass around or over to be successful but also how and when to press the ball quickly and retain possession. Pressing in team shape so that they can stop the breaking through the lines.
