3 v 2/4 v 3 Defending the Counter Attack (15 mins)
Set Up - Approx 45 x 40 area
Instruction - Activity starts with end player dribbling at two opposing teams defenders, two players from side positions join attack (one from each side) to create 3v2 to goal. If defenders win the ball two side players from their team join in to create 4v3 going the other way. If goal is scored in either the 3v2 or 4v3 attack or ball goes out of play the activity re-starts from opposite end player, always alternate.
Progression - Limit time the teams have to score to emphasize the need to take advantage of numbers up situation as quickly as possible. To make more realistic add in a recovering defender to make it even numbers.
Coaching points - Constant communication/information, stay connected, force player with ball away from goal where possible, slow down play and look to delay if you cannot win the ball to allow recovering defender time to get back and even the numbers
