Method: First Touch and passing 3v1
Small grid 10x10, can change depending on age and kids' ability.
The 3 players have to stay in between the cones, they can move between the cones up, down or across
They have to keep possession by passing to each other, can introduce touch limits as they improve. 2 touch 3 touch etc.
Player in the middle must press and try to win the ball or force a wayward pass.
If the player in the middle wins the ball or forces a wayward pass, he can swap with the player he won it off or you can put a player in the middle for a set time each 2.5 mins etc.
Coaching Points:
Movement: can we push up to closet cone nearest the player with the ball or can we move further away to create space for the pass
Communication: Calling for the ball, letting the player know where you are to receive the ball
Fast passing: Can introduce 2 touches for this. Take the touch and pass on with the 2nd touch.
Pressing: Close down quickly, work hard while in the middle
Body shape to receive and pass. Alao for player in the middle so he/she ready to bounce in the direction of where the ball is going
Pass to feet: if pass is not good the drill break down
Touch: The first touch needs to be good to help you move the ball on or trick the player in the middle
