Space Invaders (15 mins)

Space Invaders

- 2 equal teams

- Playing area split into two equal halves, with each team designated a half

- Each team has one ball to pass around

- Each player has a number, starting from 1 ascending to match the number of players

- Each number will be allocated to a player on either team (2 players to each number)

- The teams pass their ball around

- When the coach calls a number, the players allocated that number run to the opposite side to break up the oppositions possession

- They may win the ball or force an error whereby the opposition kick the ball out of the area

- The first player to break up possession wins a point for their team

- Either timed rounds or first to a set score, e.g. first to 5

Easier - Bigger area

Harder - Smaller area and/or 2-touch and/or weaker foot

Technical Points:

- Pass the ball accurately to a team mate so they have more time and easier to control - inside foot

- Power of pass to allow team mate to control the ball easily
