30 mins
ORGANISATION:
- 3 v 2 with a goal at each end.
- Zone marked in front of each goal where defenders cannot enter. This is to prevent them just blocking the goal.
HOW TO PLAY:
- Attacking team begins with the ball and attacks the goal at opposite end.
- Once the ball goes out, one attacker leaves the field and a player from the defensive team enters the field with a ball to begin a new round.
COACHING POINTS:
- Attacking team looking to take advantage of their overload (GET YOURSELF FREE) by engaging the 2 defenders and then releasing the 3rd attacker.

50 mins
ORGANIZATION:
- 8v8 (2 gk included)
- 7 Red bibs (2-4-1)
- 7 Blue Bibs (4-2-1)
- 2 full size goals
- 10-15 balls
- 2 cones to mark starting location of Cb's
- 2 assistant coaches on wide areas to restart play (always making sure shape is correct)
- 1 assistant coach on defensive goal to organize defensive team
- Reduce size of field from original 68 m width to 50-55 m width and keep full length (45m)
HOW TO PLAY:
- Ball will normally start from attacking (red)
- Offside always based on players not lines
- Attacking team aiming to create penetrations through overload and width
- If ball goes out the ball will restart from red goalkeeper
- Defensive team will have 7 seconds to score if ball is recovered
- Progression 1: Assistant coaches can restart play form wide position (if shape is correct)
COACHING POINTS:
- Defensive team: Priority first 2-3 min to reinforce shape, keep a realistic shape (as team played against on the weekend) keep it compact in the middle as much as possible
- Overloads: Can the 6 drive forward after releasing the ball to create a 3v2 in the middle of the field?
- Creation of angles to play the ball through: Can we play the ball in angles "diagonal passing" instead of straight passes the goal?
- Timing of runs: Attackers to recognize cues to move between CB's gap once the field is stretched. When wingers are in a 1v1 situation with Cb, when we create an overload on the opposite side of the field or an overload in the middle
- Blind side runs: Can the runs of the attacking players be behind the middle Cb to allow the highest chance of success
- Body shape: Receive side-on to play forward quickly
- Width before Penetration: Create width and stretch backline before playing centrally
- Support: Drop beneath or behind to provide support to ball carrier
- Movement: Move the ball quickly, patiently waiting for when to play forward
- Control Possession: Aim to manipulate the opposition defensive line by control possession and ball movement. When can we play though the middle? When should we find wide players?
- Assistant Coaches Task: AC1&2 (Left and Right side) Help with height of defensive team (when play is stop), starting point and coaching on the run for attacking team. AC 3 (Back of goal) Support Defensive team with shape and coaching on the run
