30 mins
Objective: To create attacking overloads in wide areas.
Organization: 16 players, 50Lx65W 4-2-3-1 (red) vs 4-3-3 (white)
Conditions of play: Normal soccer rules apply. Restarts are from GK playing into any of the 4 red targets in the end zone, coach playing the ball in or a throw in. White can only score a point through dribbling the ball into the end zone. 2 of the LB,RB,CM,CM must stay in the end zone in both phases (in and out of possession) but are still able to be used in possession, the end zone is a free space.
Coaching Points:
- Coaching the FB's to recognize how to support the Winger in opposite lines of play, i.e. if the LW is wide as shown, and the FB is pinned, the attacking FB can support the ball in the space underneath to combine with either the AM/ST or to slide the ball between the FB/CB for the winger to run inside into the space behind to create a goalscoring opportunity.
- Looking for the `10/9 to work together with their movement with one supporting the ball & 1 stretching the defenders away from the ball ready to attack the space behind.
- CM being conservative in when they get above the ball recognizing if a third man run into the space above (normally on a switch of play if the 9/10 are on the opposite side) between the FB/CB if the attacking FB (strong side) works their way in for preventative defending and the other CM slides across.
- Desire to score goals
- Quick T2D forcing the ball backwards or wide.
