Technical Working on recieving a pass and playing a pass into a player so we dont give the ball away. |
|
Social They are involved in a fun game with their friends as well as a drill on our passing/recieving topic. |
2 boxes of 2 different colour cones.
1 ball between 2 players.
Players must pass the ball between eachother.
Rules of the game -
1 - If pass goes out the box, its a point the player who should have recieved.
2 - If touch goes outside of the box, it is a point to the player who played the pass
3 - If the ball goes through the top of the box, the player recieving in the box must attempt to play the pass.
Coaching points -
Players to always be on their toes to recieve the ball.
Move their feet to get closer if the pass is either side of them.
Can they keep their touch moving the ball, rather than stopping it dead.
Allow players 3 touches to move the ball into the opposite box.

Technical Recieving and passing with both feet, they cannot just use one foot. |
|
Tactical The players start to understand why we use our back foot to turn out and play the other side or other way. |
|
Physical They are constantly passing and moving throughout the drill, small movements and large movements |
|
Psychological They have to get themselves ready for the ball and think about where they need to move the ball. |
4 poles
4 cones
Place the 4 poles in a square shape, 8 steps apart. The ball starts on one of the poles with the player, they then pass either clockwise or anti-clockwise round the poles. The aim is for the players to play the ball in 2 touches. The players follow their pass, so the player behind on the cone will then step on the pole to be ready to recieve the ball.
Coaching points -
1. Can the players try to recieve with their back foot to then open up & play the ball in 2 touches.
2. Once taken their touch to get their head up to look for player to pass to.
3. Can they create a little bit of space between themselves and the poles.

Starting to now put their passing techniques into play, and how they can create/utilise space on the pitch. So identifying how many of the other team are in an area of the pitch, so if there is a lot of opposition on one side, the space is on the other side of the pitch.
Coaching points -
1. When to pass and when to dribble.
2. Don't always have to pass, if there is space dribble into it.
3. How can we make space on the pitch.
4. We will always have overload with the ball as we can play with the keeper if we can't play forwards.

Work different technical dribbles & skills -
1 - Penguin Feet
2 - Toe Taps (Moving the ball forwards)

Coaching points -
Looking to find space with ball at feet so needing to dribble with head up and look where other players aren't.
When doing skills, can we push the ball into space rather than into bodies then get head up again to identify where more space is.
If found in small spaces, what kind of touches can the player work to find a larger bit of space.
