SSG
Setup
Remove mini goals from Drill and add a tapered goal line from halfway line to 10 yards inside the half.
Blue team (Attacking) play 4-3-1 Formation ( 433 without the 2 wingers)
Red team ( Defending) play 2-3-3 Formation (433 without the 2 fullbacks)
Time - 15 Mins
Objectives
9v9 game
First 2 minutes free play
Ball always starts with the blue keeper. The aim for the blues is to build up play using the back 4 and the keeper. They cannot score a goal until the goalkeeper and at least one centre back has touched the ball.
2 Centre backs must look to drop deep and split to either side of the 18 yard box and both full backs push high to create a problem for the defending front 3
Blue number 9 must stay in opposition half of the pitch until a defender has touched the ball and the reds also canot press beyond the red line until a defender has touched the ball.
When reds when the ball back they have 10 seconds to score.
Progressions
Reds can press anywhere on the field to restrict the keeper playing to the centre backs.
A goal can be scored without having to use the centre backs.
If the Blues can score a goal using both full backs and centre backs they get an additonal goal.

Paul Wells Session example for game plan and coaching philosophy
Drill: Build up Play with a GK and Back 4
Set Up
Blue team (Attacking)- Gk, Back 4 and 2 midfielder ( 433 formation without the number 10 and front 3
Red team (defending) - Front 3 and 2 midfielders ( 433 formation without the number 6 and back 4)
Half of the pitch with 2 goals on the halfway line, 10 yards in from the touchline
Time - 15 mins
Objectives
Ball to start with a server on the half way line. He plays the ball directly into the GK who then looks to build up play with the use of his back 4. First pass has to be into one of the centre backs
The blues then aim to score a goal in one of the mini goals
The reds cannot press beyond the red line until a blue player has touched the ball
When the reds win possesion, they have 10 seconds to score a goal
Looking for the blues to use the full width of the pitch by using both full backs. Examples
Keeper plays to CB1 who then passes to the 6, he plays the ball into CB2 who then plays the ball into the full back. Full back can either play a 1/2 with the number 8 to attack the touchline or play back into the number 6 who then switches play to the other full back.
If the opposition press is high, the keeper to attempt to play into the 6 or 8 if the midfield rotation opens up the space and build the pattern of play from there
Width and depth is key for the blue team. If a forward pass or switch is not on, recycle the ball by using the goal keeper or centre backs and starting the full pattern of play again. Do not force the passes and wait for the right moment to break the lines with the passing
When the ball is out wide, can the centre backs and the number 6 drop deep to receive the ball, almost creating back 3 which then allows the opposiite full back to push higher creating space for the switch of play when the ball is recycled
Progressions
Number 6 can also be used from the first pass, creating an additional overload against the front 3
Final 4 minutes, the goalkeeper can use any player on the pitch with the first pass
The reds can now play as high as they like
If the blue team need to recycle the ball and score a goal with more than 8 passes they get an extra goal
If the red team can win possesion within 4 passes they get a goal
