#9: Presses ball and stops sideways pass to opposition opposition CB. Forces player to dribble into pressure from #8.
#8: Goes to press ball and block option down the line into #4's feet. Encourages pass into opposition CM (pressure pocket).
#6: Gets ballside and goalside of opposition CM. Prepared to pressure if pass does come in or anticipating winning the ball on the pass.
#4: Slight movement with oppositions CF should we fail to block line. Provides balance for #6. Looks to delay should #8 get beat.

#6: Gets tight as ball played. Prevent turn. Cuts out pass when possible. Very important they do not allow oppositions CM to turn out and switch play quickly.
#8: After forcing pass inside, goes to double and win ball as opposition's CM receives.
#9: Having prevented switch of play from CB to CB, drops straight in on the pass to either win the ball or prevent switch if #6 is late to arrive.
#4: Find covering position close enough to cut pass out into opposition CF while prepared to delay should opposition's CM get out of pressure pocket.

Should #8 be late to cut off pass down line, here is how we will react (Drop in / Delay).
#4: Delays while applying enough pressure to ball to slow game down, not allow quick switch of play, and allow teammates to recover.
#6: Stays with runner (opposition CM or prepared to pick up opposition's weak side CB should his mark go underneath.
#8: Drops straight into covering position (as shown) or picks up opposition's CM should he go into an underneath positon allowing our #6 to become cover.
#9: Recovers into position to put opposition's CB who has just passed should the other team look to play backward. Continue to deny switch.
#1: Finds correct line. Looks to organize, especially on weak side.

Starting Positions
#9: Deep to deny penetration. Shaded to one side to make play predictable (forcing right as shown).
#8: Slightly higher than #6 as ball will most likely be rolled out to his side. Prepared to press ball and cut line off should be be played wide
#6: Slightly deeper and more central than the #8 as ball will likely be played out to opposite side.
#4: Goalside and ballside of opposition CF to deny long ball into feet. Prepared to cut out pass / challenge if GK does go long.
#1: Slightly off line to protect space in behind #4 and #6.
