Player 3 receives pass, stops the ball at the cone, and then runs down the line to the starting cone (without the ball), where player 1 started circuit.

Passing Combinations (20 mins)

Setup:

16 players - 8 in each grid

2 playing grids

10 x 15 yards each

Cones

Activity:

The activity begins with player 1 passing and moving to receive a pass back from player 2. Player 1 then passes to player 3 and the sequence is followed as shown in the diagram. Player 4 finishes with a long pass to player 5. Each player takes up the spot at the next cone in the sequence.

Variations may be that player 1 has to dribble and evade the cones in front with a skill move and then a pass to player 3.

Teams are competing to see how many cycles they can complete in an alotted time. Each pass not through the gates to player 5 adds results in some type of penalty.

Coaching points:

Speed of play

Weight and accuracy of pass

Angle and distance of support

15 or more players

Activity:

Play begins with player at cone 2, passing to the central midfielder. The pass is then made to the winger who runs with the ball down the wing and then crosses it in to the box.

The play who started the sequence then takes up the spot of the central midfielder.

Each restart will alternate the wing of play.

Rotate the players into different positions are a few attempts in that position.
