Drill (25 mins)

SETUP

  • Possession team must make 5 passes with 1 defender putting pressure on within that zone.
  • After 5 passes the possession team (red) must pass into 1 of the other 3 zones.
  • The blue team then transitions into the zone the ball was passed into and make 5 passes before the defender wins the ball back.
  • Whatever team is out of possession must transition into the free zones waiting for the possession team to switch the ball into a zone (HIGH INTENSITY ON THE TRANSITION)
  • One defender is fixed to each zone.

 FOCUS

Red & Blue teams must focus on quick passing and quick transitions. Do not force passes keep it simple and under control. Defending team focus on winning the ball back and keeping pressure on attacking teams to force mistakes.

COMMUNICATION is key, without this team will easily lose possession.

PROGRESSION

  • Change number of passes before switching play into another zone.
  • Limit number of touches.
  • If defensive team wins the ball back, they then become the attacking team with the team losing possession becoming defenders.
