warm - up 10 mins

dynamic stretching (3-4 minutes)

- split players into 2 lines

- place a cone to start and a cone approximately 12' away

- players preform opening/closing of the hips, high kicks, side shuffling movement, etc.

- encourage players to preform dynamic warm up before participation in sport to decrease chance of injury

topic: general technical warm up (10 minutes)

organization:

- 20 x 20 area

- divide players into 2 lines

- coach holds up a colour

- players run up to the coach, change direction, dribble around that colour 

- after completion players pass back to the line

key factors and progressions:

- keep your head up when dribbling

- proper technique when carrying ball and dribbling - keep ball close to you

- ready position

- scan before they receive

- receive on back foot

- positive touch 

- communication

initial game15 mins

topic: general technical - initial game (3 box rondo) whole (15 minutes)

organization:

- create 3 boxes 15 x 15

- split players into 3 teams equally

- players play rondo in their square

- 2 players from each defending team try to win the ball

- when they win the ball they pass to their teammates in their square and join that square

- a new player from the defensive squares must now come to win the ball

key factors and progressions:

- transition from defending to attacking

- support = angle + distance

- scan before they receive

- communication

- decision making

activity20 mins

topic: general technical - activity (20 minutes)

organization:

- create 3 squares approximately 6 x 6 

- 4 players per square

- 3 balls per square 

- outside players have a ball

- player furthest from the net passes the ball into center player for a quick pass back

- going clockwise next player lobs a pass to middle player for a header back

- next player lobs a pass for a chest bring down to a pass back

- player that played the first pass passes into the middle player for a quick turn and shot on goal.

- next square goes

- players rotate clockwise so a new player is in the middle

- is to be done as quickly as possible 

key factors and progressions:

- shooting, lock ankle, turn foot, drive foot through the ball using laces

- plant foot is slightly bent and beside the ball

- long stride, get over top of the ball and follow through

- chest bring down, good balance, slightly leaning back, puff out chest, pass back with side of foot

- header, use upper body to head the ball back, keep eye on the ball and use the top of your forehead

topic: general technical - build the attack (15 - 20 minutes) + cool down

organization:

- 4 v 3 

- attackers play rondo to striker, then attack begins quickly 

- position specific - rotate players that play the same positions

key factors and progressions:

- outside defender makes recovery run

- central defender delays attack

- outside RW plays diagonally through ball to striker and LW

- outside LW cuts and shoots or plays back to top of the box for shot

- striker runs through, lays off 

- simplicity 

cool down:

- jogging and static stretching
