The main aim of the drill is to create a numberical advantage upon the defending teams to our attacking advantages.
A lot of communication is needed and the technical ability also needs to be to a good standard.
Coaching points - Making sure the attacking team find the spare player to create the overloads. Fast passing and moving forward when having possession of the ball. The angle of passes and making overlapping and underlapping run in wider areas.
Targets - can we score from creating an overload in a central area?
Challenge - score from a cross in to an attacking area from an overlapping run
Condition - The ball must be played in to the central area first of all.

9v9 working with blues in possession
Play 3 x 6 minute blocks
The ball always starts with the blue team keeper who will play from the back, The shaded area is where we will still exploit the majority of overloads
If the blue team score they get 1 goal when’s scored without any condition. 3 goals will be given if an overload is created upon the red team and the blues score from it
The reds get 1 goal by gaining possession and scoring within 10 seconds

Creating Overloads Specific (20 mins)

Gk + 6v6 working with the blues in possession
Blue team in a set up of 1-4-2 simulating in an DM, CM and AM with 2 wingers
Square set up in the middle used for overload are
Ball will start with blue team who will play in to the square and join in the square to create a 3v2 overload, once 2 passes are complete in the area the ball can be played out and score against the goalkeeper.
Blue team get 1 goal for scoring off a cross
2 goals for the blues if scoring from the after creating an overload.
Red team score 1 point for gaining possession of the ball and scoring in either of the 2 goals
