Striking the Ball Training Plan 6 SAP Short Passing
Equipment: 15 markers 10 flat markers, ball per player, four small goals, two normal goals

Area: 15 x 30. Players: 6-16 in pairs, ball per pair.
Explanation: Players in pairs around 10 meters apart to start . They play first time passes progressively getting closer together after each pass until they are 1-2 meters apart then move back out progressivly to 10 meteres and repeat. 2 minutes Progression (1-2 minutes each) right foot only; left foot only; alternate right/left foot
Coaching Points: wieght and accruacy of pass (e.g. pass to the left foot of receiver if playing left foot only); body position to enable first time pass; keep on toes

Area: 20 x 30 initally divided into two 20 x 15 areas; Players: 6-16
Explanation: 6 players in each area, two with balls, three without, one player is a designated tagger. Aims is for designated tagger to tag a player without the ball. Players with balls aim to pass to a team mate without the ball to save them from being tagged. If a player is tagged all players (apart from tagger) must do 5 burpies (or some penalty) Swap around taggers if they tag or after every minute.
Step Up: Smaller area; only one ball Step Down: Larger area; three balls

Area: 20 x 30 with 5 meter end zones Players: 6-16
Explanation: 5 v 5 plus two neutral attackers (creates 7 v 5 for attacking team), neutral players can not score or entre end zones and must pass back to the team they received the ball from. All other players can move anywhere in the area however goals can only be score first time shot from within end zone area.
Step Up: Smaller area; one/none neutral player Step Down: Larger area, three neutral players
Obervations: timing of passes, short/sharp passing, weight/accuracy of passing, body position to allow passing options, movement off the ball to create passing lanes; first time strikes on goal

Area: 30 x 40 flat markers dividing into quarters. Players 8-16 divided into two teams
Explanation: Normal game, in possession encourage first time pass between zones, double points if goal is scored after passes consecutive through three zones

ST Skill Introduction (5 mins)
Area: 15 x 30. Players: 6-16, divide players into two groups, 1. external bouncers, 2. Internal with ball each
Explanation: Internal players dribble ball looking for a free external player to pass to and recieve the ball back (bouncer first time pass if possible), aim is to get within five meters before passing, with quick pass, pass back. Internal player then moves on randomly to find another free external player and repeats, after one minute rotate external/internal players.
Progession/Variation: Boucher players pass back in front of internal player (wall pass). Right/Left foot only. Internal player must perform turn on receiving pass back.
