Passing & Receiving Exercise for U11's.
U9&U10's: Coach Chooses Pre-Game Passing & Receiving or something else
Set-up:
- The grid is split into quarters
- At least one server is placed at the top and bottom of the grid (depending on numbers)
- Players play in a team of three and there is one ball per group
- Each team passes and combines to play from one server to the other
Progression:
1) All three players must combine to work from one end to the other, but must always occupy different boxes. As soon as they play the pass they must find a free grid to move into.
2) Passes must be played to a free box for a team mates to run on to or a player can leave or 'set' the ball in their own square for a team mate to run on to. The 'setter' however must also leave her square.
Challenges / Questions for Players:
Can you and your team mates always occupy different grids?
Can you open your body to enable you to see both servers and both your team mates?
Can you recognize the movement of your team mates and adjust your position accordingly?
If a server is not free to play into, can you keep the ball and work within space restrictions?
Scoring:
What team can keep the ball moving effecrtively and rotate for the longest?

6v6 Game for GU9&GU10's. 8v8 for U11's. (30 minutes)
Scoring: 1) Players get one point if they score on goal, 2) if they switch the ball from one end to the other.
Things to Teach:
Throw-ins - Closest Outside back takes it. Closest forward
Coaching points:
Offensive team needs to have their forwards wide in their own half and they can start coming in the offensive half.
Important we teach them our number system and formation. We play a GK-2-1-2. With two defenders, one CM and two forwards.
Make sure you give them set positions.
Let's create 3 channels to naturally give them width.
2-10/15 minute halves.

Two Things to teach in 6v6 Game:
Throw ins:
- Closest Center back (4) takes the throw. Opposite Center Back provides support by dropping back at an angle.
Options:
1) Closest forward (3) checks to the ball and then makes run down the line.
2) Center mid starts out and then checks inside to receive ball to either play ball down the line, play it back to 4 and opens up to get the ball back again with the intent of switching it. Or 6 can play to 5 who then looks to switch the ball.
GK in possession of the ball.
If everyone clears out, GK can put the ball down at her feet and distribute from there. Look to find seams or play to one of the Center Backs. Opposite Center Backs tucks in to provide cover in case we lose possession.
