Organization
Set Up as shown in the diagram
The coach passes the ball to the player the player uses a low scoop to pick up the ball and uses a half volley to pass it back to the coach. Give different types of serves (4 sets)
Coaching Points
Half Volley - When the ball all is released from the goalkeeper’s hands and is struck as it contacts the ground. The half volley is not the most accurate method of distribution, but it can be very effect when looking to hit the ball into space in the opponent’s half of the field.
· The ball can be held in either one or two hands. Drop the ball from waist height in front of kicking leg. Swing kicking leg forward from the hip.
· The knee is flexed on back swing and extended on follow through. Toes are pointed down and ankle is locked.
· Contact is made through the bottom half of the ball with the laces. Contact is made when the ball rises approximately 6 inches off the ground. Follow through by continuing the upward swing of the leg.

Goalkeeper start with ball in hands using a side volley to pass the ball through each gate.
Coaching Points
Side volley - The flight of the ball is more horizontal than a full volley or half volley and is easier to control by your teammate.
The ball is held in one hand. Held at a height then dropped to waist height in front of kicking leg. Swing kicking leg forward from the hip.
The knee is flexed on back swing and extended on follow through. Toes are pointed and ankle is locked.
Contact is made through the bottom half of the ball with the laces. Contact is made when at hip height. Follow through by continuing the upward swing of the leg.

The coach serves the ball from the corner, and the player makes a high catch and uses a volley towards the target. To progress, make the target smaller or move further away.
