Active warm up (10 mins)

Organisation:


  • Each player has a ball
  • Players bounce the ball around the area
Progressions:


1. 5 bounces right hand, 5 bounces left hand
  • Mechanics of bouncing the ball
2. 2 bounces -> throw the ball up -> catch
  • Ball manipulation
3. Bounce the ball to an athlete while they bounce the ball back (swap bounce)
  • Teamwork
4. Comprise the 3 into instructions
  • Call out 1 - bounce the ball; 2 - 2 bounces and throw; 3 - swap bounce

2v1 attack the box (10 mins)

Organisation:


  • As shown on the diagram, a 2v1 situation is set where a defender (blue) protects a box, while 2 attackers (red) attack the box.
  • Box is 3x3m
Rules and conditions:
  • Attackers score by bouncing the ball in the box
  • Attackers are not allowed to step in the box
  • Attackers cannot travel with ball in hands
  • When defender regains possession, they swap with the attacker who lost possession 

Progressions:

1. Motivate athletes

  • 2 point for defender when they regain possession 
  • 1 point for attacker when they score in the box

  • Mechanics of shielding the ball
