Description:
No Ball
-Players will zig-zag through the red cones (50%, 70%, then 100%)
-When they get to the middle orange cone (skills zone) they will practice shadowing (mimicking) the following skills (making sure all players go to their Left together, and then Right):
1) Shoulder feint; 2) Fake shot
Progressions:
1) Now, players will mimic the skills also statically- on the spot (on the first orange cone)
2) Make it a race!
With Ball:
-Replicate the above but this time, after the second skills cone, players will join the opposite line (as shown by black lines)
-Allow players to practice dribbling with all the different parts of their feet and repeat each skill 10 times in total- using both feet (5 X going left, 5 X going right).
-Initiate by practicing skills when static (stopping at every orange skill cones) and explosively changing direction on the whistle.
-Now repeat again, this time perform skills only on the run, ensuring a good steady speed and even faster when approaching the skill cone.
Progression:
1) This time, on the first orange skill cone, perform static skill, then after dribbling through red cones perform skill on the run on the following skill cone
2) Now, make it a race, winners move one space UP, losers, one space DOWN (i.e. winner from 2 goes to 1, loser to 3)
Coaching Points:
-Do not rush your dribling and your skills- quality over quantity
-Ensure high acceleration on static skills to facilitate beating a defender
-Ensure that skills on the run are executed at the right time (not too early nor too late) and at a good speed
-Aim to look up when dribbling

Cross the Amazon
Organisation:
-Split players into two equal teams, one attacking, one defending.
Description:
-Attacking players must try to cross the Amazon, using their learned dribbling techniques, skills as well as their spatial awareness to beat the defenders
-Attackers begin at the orange cones (skill station) where they must complete a static skill (from a still position) before dribbling and crossing the Amazon.
-Award attackers with a cone ( this can go behind their blue line) every time they cross the Amazon safely (defender's blue line) without being tackled and bonus point for applied dribbling and skills.
-Award defenders with a cone if they successfully steal the ball from the attackers
-After several turns, count the cones each team has a swap over positions.
Progressions:
1) Now players must attack and defend in pairs (only focusing on dribbling past and defending against their partner)
2) Now, the 3 attackers will share ONE ball and must work as a team and use their skills and dribbling to cross to the defender's side.
3) The Crocodile Game:
-4 RED boxes are added (5 second safe houses)
-Now pretend that players are all deep into the Amazon and they must now use the whole space to keep ball away from crocodiles for 30 seconds rather than crossing over.
They may dribble to Safe Houses where Crocodiles cannot get them, but they must complete one of the skills covered today for 5 seconds before entering the Amazon again.
-Rotate players after 2 turns and keep removing Safe Houses!
Coaching Points:
-Look up when dribbling to find your way through the defenders
-Use dribbling, skills and your body to protect the ball
-Keep ball close to feet when dribbling
-Practice dribbling fast and slow.
-Coaches here should step in where necessary i.e. they notice 1v1 mistakes keep occuring in the same situations.
