Playing out against a 1-3-5-2 (Set up in midfield as 2 wing backs 1 attacking midfielder and 2 holding midfielders).
Players roles and responsibilities when playing out from a goal-kick:
GK - Starts with the ball in the centre of the 6 yard box (unless a GK can be taken quickly)
Centre backs - Start on edge of 6 yard box, as the GK puts the ball down both players move out to the edge of the penalty box. When the GK plays out to one of the CB the opposite CB moves in centrally (away from the opponent) to be an option if our midfield get on the ball but close enough if possession is lost we can affect the opposition centre forward if they was to receive the ball.
Fullbacks - Start high and if the ball travels towards the CB drop back to be an option. If you receive the ball from the CB can you play forward? Or if the ball goes into the AM can you come inside and be an option. Opposite FB stays high but tucks in. If we create an attack in the opponents half push forward and create some width.
Attacking midfielder 1 - As the ball is played to the CB can you drop to receive the ball (or be an option), don't drop back so you are level with the opposition CF. If you have pressure can you either play to the RB who has come inside, play around the corner to the RW or if the CB is free
Attacking midfielder 2 - Can you look for pockets of space forwards or backwards to either take an opponent with you or to receive the ball
Holding midfielder- As the FB receives the ball can you move forward into the attacking midfielders position to be an option to receive the ball over the top of the AM that has dropped to receive the ball from the CB, support FB if he receives the ball or join in the attack
Right winger - If the ball is played to the RB can you be an option inside for the RB and CB or look to receive the ball over the top
Left winger - Can you come inside centrally to be an option for the ball over the top or to support forward runs from the RM or CF
Centre forward - Can you move forward and towards the ball side to be an option for the ball over the top or to support players on the ball
ALL OF THE ABOVE APPLIES IF THE BALL IS ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE
