Organization:
Channels as shown (Based upon Age and Ability) ensure width is appropriate to allow space to overlap
Players divided into two or three groups.
Instructions:
A passes to B. B drives a long pass across to C. C commits B (passive defender) and plays the pass to D who is overlapping. Rotation: A - B - C - D.
Coaching Points:
- Checks before receiving ball
- Quality of driven pass (low and hard)
- Commit defender on dribble
- Commit defender centrally to open up two options either side
- Protect or hide the ball
-Dribble with the surface fartherst from support on the foot away from the support (ie outside of the foot farther from starting position of supporting player)
- Communication (Hold, Through) of overlapping player
- Shape and timing of run
- Quality of pass through (weight, direction)
- Recognize when to make the overlapping run (player on ball driving infield) and when to support underneath ball.

See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Organization:
Same as previous activity
Instructions:
Defender is now live on C's first touch. Play 2v1, attacking players try to score on large goal w/GK. Defending player(s) if they steal the ball can score in the counter goal.
Coaching Points:
- Checks before receiving ball
- Quality of driven pass (low and hard)
- Commit defender on dribble
- Commit defender centrally to open up two options either side
- Dribble with ball closest to support, outside of the foot flick pass to play them in
- Communication (Hold, Through) of overlapping player
- Shape and timing of run
- Quality of pass through (weight, direction)
- Recognizing when to make the overlapping run (player on ball driving infield) and when to support underneath ball.
- Transition upon winning/losing the ball
Progressions:
- A passes to B and then sets off around C's cone and joins the play as a recovering defender to make it a 2v2.

See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Organization:
Use 2/3rd's of the field as shown. Two target goals for the blue (defending) team to score in, the red (attacking) team scores in the full size goal. Both teams set up (4)-3-3. Start 8v7 with an additional blue player ready to join in. Option is to start 8v8. Balls around the perimeter and 6-8 balls with player #4 to start.
Dispersal
Move the ball quickly across the back. As the ball moves get wide and up. Hips open to the field
First touch forward, if its on. Play quickly. Move the ball quickly. Team shape- tight midfield 3, front 2 pushed on high.
Penetration/Combination
As the right full back, #2, receives the ball from #5 he/she plays quickly to the wide striker #7 who has come out wide to support. If #7 takes a touch inside the full back can overlap #7, this gives #7 the option to play the overlapping full back or play #9 or go 1v1 against the defending left back.
Recognize the cues from #7, if he goes inside 2 can overlap. Speed of supporting run from full back.
Quality of cross or cut back from #2. #10 and #8 to get into an attacking positions to support #2
Attacking wide thru central play
In this instance #5 plays the supporting midfield player , #8, who has come to show for the ball. As the ball travels #2 gets into an advanced position to receive the ball from #8. #2 runs the ball up the flank, #7 comes inside and moves the defending full back allowing space for #2 to get behind and play a cut back to #10, #9 or #7. Or across the face of goal to #9.
Get wide and forward quickly as the ball is traveling.Scan the field as the ball is moving and before receiving. What's happening?Good first touch. Controlled running with the ball at speed.
Accurate cut back. Penetration- Mobility- Support
Supporting angle and distance
In this instance #2 is traveling forward with the ball and gets delayed by a defending midfield player. He/she decides to play back to a supporting center back who is providing a good supporting angle and distance behind the ball. #5 can then play centrally to #6, as the defending midfield block has been stretched.
Good decision making based on pressure and options. Quality of turn to play back. Quality of pass to C/B to allow a quick switch. Good supporting angle and distance from C/B. Timing of support from #6 to exploit the space centrally.
