WARM-UP (15 mins)

Organization:

  • 20x26 Grid - Split by 2 / Two goals 6yds away from grid / GKs

Instructions:

  • Possession Rondo
    • In possession, teams look to connect passes and break pressure to connect to other grid. Everyone on 3 touches. No minimum passes, just look to connect to other side for a point. When losing possession, reaction is to be fast and aggressive to block the goal.
    • Out of possession, players apply pressure aggressively looking to regain the ball and score on goal in front for 1pt.
    • Switch defenders every 1:30-2 min.

Coaching Points:

  • Speed on the ball - Simple Executions / Recognize & Beat press - 3rd Man / FT & Awareness.

Progressions:

  • 2 Touches Max.

SSA - 6v5+2 (20 mins)

Organization:

  • One Third / Full size Goal w GK.

Instructions:

  • BUILD-UP 6v5
    • Attacking team builds up from GK looking to progress and connect with one of the neutrals. After connecting with Neutral this one plays ball to red team to start counter attack to the goal, so blue team works on A >D transition. To score, 10 passes =1pt / Connect with N = 1pt.
    • Defending team pressures aggressively looking to regain possession quick. Wingers initiate pressure forcing CBs inside. To score, win possession = 1pt / Goal = 1pt.

  • Simple Executions to progress or keep possession
    • Speed on the ball / Quality of passes and actions
  • Recognize & Beat Pressure 
    • 3rd Man / First Touch / Pass or Dribble.

    • ATT
      • Build-Up Shape GK-2-3-2
      • Play out of the back, break pressure and progress to next third.
      • Score | 10 Passes = 1pt / End Zone - Mini Goal = 1pt
    • DEF
      • High Press Shape 1-2-3 OR 2-1-3 (3-2-3 if FBs involved)
      • Aggressive pressure, force mistake or win ball high, counter quickly on goal.
      • Score | Win possession = 1pt / Goal = 1pt
    • RULES
      • Start fro goal kick - Play throw ins / No CKs.
