Block 4, week 5
Aim
We will go back to basics this week with some general shot stopping drills to practice everything we have been doing this block
Equipment
Balls
Large cones
Small cones (4 colours)

Colours
Aim
To increase speed of movement in and around the goal
Instructions
The GK starts in the centre of his goal and facing out.
The coach will shout out 2 colours, the 1 st colour the GK has to sprint out to touch and then he has to move to be inline with the 2nd colour.
Once the GK has set, the coach will move the ball out from his feet and shoot on goal
Progression
3 colours are call and the GK has to touch 2 colours and then move to set
2 shots are taken (the shot can be taken at any time where the GK will have a chance of stopping it)

Up and at 'em'
Aim
To help the GK gain speed getting up from the ground so he can be ready for a shot or two on goal
Instructions
The GK will start lying on his back or side with his outstretched hands in between the 2 markers
On command the GK will rise to his feet and set for an angled shot. We have to ensure that he is centre to the ball
Progression
As soon as the GK is on 1 foot, the coach can move the ball out from his feet and shoot
The GK will adopt different positions to rise from:
1. on back
2. Sitting, head between knees
3. facing away from the ball (early shot needed here)

Time to move
Aim
To have the GK moving at speed in order to stop a series of fast close-in shots
Instructions
The GK starts in the '12' position and on the outside of the inner circle
A series of numbers will be called out and the GK is to move to each number respectively to save the shot which will be aimed at the cones in the centre of the circle.
The GK must move around the outside of the large cones
Progression
The inner circle is widened out and the goals made larger
6 saves !!

Oops
Aim
To have the GK receiving a high ball and making a quick throw to his teammate, only for him to lose the ball and take a shot on goal
Instructions
c1 will feed a high ball over to the GK who will throw this to any of the outfield players
The 2 players who never received the ball now become defenders
The player with the ball has to try to shoot and score
1 point for saving a shot
1 point for scoring a goal
Winner chooses the loser's punishment!!

A quick warm-up of traditional 'bulldogs'
Instructions
Gk's starting at one end have to get past the bull and to the other end
1. Running
2. Bibs tucking into shorts, bull has to collect the bibs
3. Bulls throwing a ball (below head height)
3. Bulls kicking a ball at runners (below head height)
4. Runners have to pass a ball while running, if the ball hits a wall, the 1st to finish joins the bull
5. Runners have to throw a ball above the head while running, if the ball hits a wall, the 1st to finish joins the bull
6. Runners have to throw a ball below head height while running, if the ball hits a wall, the 1st to finish joins the bull.
