Defending 1 v1 (Skills Drill)
Each instance of the drill involves 4 players
set up a cone square approximately 10x10 yards
two team mates line up opposite each other at each side of the cone square
2 players start in the box
1 team starts with the ball on the outside of the square and the team mate from the centre moves out of the square to receive the ball. They must then dribble into the suare and beat the defender to make a pass to the team mate on other side
If the defender wins the ball- their team get a chance to move the ball from side to side through the square
Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):
Regression- make square bigger
Progression- make square smaller
Challenges, Conditions or Targets:
keep score- add bonus points for each consecutive point scored

Defending- small sided game
4 v 4 normal game
1 player (yellow) plays for both sides- in possession
objective to defend the overload
Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):
Remove special player and play normal

Defending (Technical)
Create a 20 x 10 channel on the pitch
2 teams line up opposite each other at each end of the channel
1st team start with the ball- objective is to beat the defender and run the ball to the other end of the channel to score a point
defender has to stop them
Take it in turns until each player has had a go at attacking and defending
Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):
Progression- narrow the channel or try 2v 2
Regression- widen and shorten channel
