Skill Introduction - Concluding Competition (5 mins)
Set Up:
- Players: 10-12
- Grid size: 25m x 25m
- Can you dribble looking up
- Can you identify space and attack it at speed
- Can you keep close control of the ball when dribbling at speed
Competition:
- Splitting the players into three teams, one team will start defending in the middle and the other two teams will start at one end of the grid and attempt to cross to the other. If the player successfully gets to the end of the other side of the grid they score 1 point. At the end of all rounds the team with the most points wins
- If the defender wins the ball, they must give it back to the attacker and the attacker must start again from the end
- Change the defending team after 60 seconds

Skill Training (20 mins)
Set Up:
- Players: 10-12
- Grid Size: 25m x 30m with a 7m scoring zone
- Coach standing as shown on picture holding two different colour cones
Explanation:
- Two teams of 5-6 players with the coach positioned as shown in the diagram holding two different coloured bibs
- The blue players will pass the ball to the red player, as soon as the red player takes a touch the blue player can start chasing him
- The red player must dribble the ball into the scoring zone and shoot. Before entering the scoring zone, the coach holds up cone and the attacking player must call out the colour before entering the gate
- Switch defenders and attackers every 2-3 minutes
Progression:
- Change the angle of approach of the defender (From the opposite side, from behind 6-8m away)
Player task: To dribble the ball into the scoring zone and score a goal
Coaching Points:
- Can you dribble looking up
- Can you identify space and attack it at speed
- Can you keep close control of the ball when dribbling at speed
Step up:
- Reduce distance that defender starts from
- Add a time limit to score (5 seconds)
- Add gates on the scoring zone line which players need to go through before they score
- Increase grid size
- Add a neutral player

Skill Game (20 mins)
Set Up:
- Players: 10-12
- Grid Size: 25m x 28m with small goals at each end. Scoring zone is 10m
Explanation:
- 6v6 game
- The attacking team scores by running the ball into the scoring zone (1 point). If they score a goal in the small goal after dribbling into the scoring zone that counts as 3 points.
- Play restarts from coach or from the back
Key Session Observations:
- Training game is there to give the opportunity to players to PLAY FOOTBALL while applying the learning from the first components of the session.
- Assess how much 'teaching and learning' has taken place
