Same as Dick Bate passing square, just in a triangle with 4. Works well with square if you have 9 players. 4 in one grid and 5 in the other (so they can follow pass).
Have players focus on movement to receive around cone and open up. Act like a defender is the cone - start on blindside - move to open position to receive and play on.
Scan ahead and plan ahead and play with rolling, accuracy, and pace to the correct foot.

5v3 (adjust to group).
Blue tries to keep possession for a number of passes consecutively (3-7). Orange tries to win ball. If orange wins, they score on counter goals. Blue tries to win ball back before scoring.

Setup: Same square as previous game (30x40). Dividing line in the middle. 2 teams of 4 (or team of 5/6 on offense vs team of 4 on defense to create success). 4 goals setup near corners
Game: Team with the ball must make 5 to 7 passes (including at least one switch to the other side) and then they can score on any goal. Only 2 defenders are allowed in a half. Offense can travel anywhere (3v2;4v2,etc). If defense steals ball, they can immediately score on any goal, and then they get a new ball to be on offense now.
Alternative: 3 passes on one half = 1pt; switch = 1 pt. 5 pts can score. Defense still scores on counter.
Coaching: 1) As defenders suck in, move the ball to new space 2) Offense stay spread to make defenders move. 3) When is a good time to switch? 4) Are we still passing accurately with good pace under pressure?

Dick Bate Passing Square
Passing Square Game: All players start on yellow cones. Player A has only ball to
start. 2 touch game. Every first touch by passer is signal for receiver to break off of
yellow cone on arcing run to receive with open hips and good first touch to next
target. Then pass on second touch. (example: player a takes touch to start, player b
sprints out to receive pass from A. As player B, takes touch towards C, C breaks off
of cone to open hips to B and D. Play continues) If using 5, have a player waiting
inside cone triangle. 2 squares compete. Alternate Game: Skip the Dribbling
square and do multiple passing squares (5 per square).
Progression 1: Add 1 or 2 players to middle of grid, players must receive pass in
space in front of cone triangle, lay off to a middle player, who performs a wall pass
around the triangle cones for outside player to then continue pattern. If 2 inside
players, have them work to receive different balls.
Progression 2: Coach stands behind both all grids, and continues to switch
different colors of cones in hand. Players must say color in hand as ball is rolling
