Physical condition through the training of defensive overloads and attacking overloads. Working on press attack and creating connections through small sided games.

Essence:
- Work on small unit play and making connections moving forward.
Structure:
- A passes to defender 1 who passes to B.
- From here we play a 3v2 with defender 2 and C starting high in the circle
.- C needs to make leads to create a passing opportunity for A and B.
- Defender 2 needs to try and stop that from happening, 1 is looking to hold up play.
Variation:
- Add an extra defender and make it a 3v3.
Technical Points:
- Attacking wise, look to hold up to create a 2v1. Give the pass early and don't run directly into contact.- Defensively, look to force them out wide and create a turnover.
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Hockey images.
Essence:
- To work on playing a 2v1 then how do we adapt when it changes to a 1v2.
Structure:
- 1 plays defender A in. A plays in 2 who carries and then does a drop pass to 1.
- 1 moves into a guarding positions whilst 1 and 2 play a 2v1 with A
- When A intercepts the ball the second defender becomes active. This means one of the attackers stays active and we play a 2v1. With that attacker putting pressure whilst they try to score in the cone goal.
- If the defender doesn't intercept we play a 2v1 into the goal.
Technical Points:
- Make sure that the guard position holds the defender up until we can get the second player involved. Look to create a 2v1.
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Hockey images.
Essence:
- Work on the press through 2v1's to create a turnover and goal scoring opportunity.
Structure:
- A or B plays in defender 1, who will try and dribble the ball over the 25.
- A & B press and try to win the ball and attack the circle.
- 2 in the middle can join to create a 2v2, 3v2 or a 3v3 depending on the quality.
Technical Points:
- Work on pressing aggressively and putting the pressure on to create a turnover.
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Hockey images.
Essence:
- To work on scoring from baseline entries whilst learning different movements to create space for the deflection.
Structure:
- 1 passes to 2 and receives it back.
- 1 carries on their run whilst at the same time, 2 makes an arching run to get into a deflecting position.
- Start of with flat passes across the circle, then progress to lifted balls.
Technical Points:
- Make sure that 1 gets his feet around the ball so its easier to cross it.
- For 2, make sure that they are in a low body position with the stick on the floor ready to deflect and react incase something else happens.

Essence:
- To work on shooting accuracy and consistency.
Structure:
- Player picks the ball up from a cone and takes a shot.
- Sets of forehand and reverse hits.
- If we deem it to be a bad shot, lack of power or wide they sprint to the yellow cone.

Essence:
- To work on sprinting whilst changing direction, improves footwork
Structure:
- Set up cones as follows, we jog to the cone then sprint to the other and change direction to sprint to the goal.
- Repeat all sets varying the sprint distance.
- Sets of 5.
