Title: Y passing drill
Purpose:
Passing pattern with a focus on receiving on the back foot.
Organization & Objective:
Cones placed 8 yards and 5 yards apart to create a “y” shape. Need at least 4 players total with one player on the middle cone and one on each of the top cones. The line will be at the bottom cone and first player in line will have a ball. Play starts with the middle player moving off the cone to receive the ball back foot. If the middle player checks out to the left side, then they pass to the right. The player at the top who just received the pass from the middle player will dribble back to the line. Every player will follow their pass. The next middle player will check out to the other side, in this case to the right side and pass to the left. The player on the left who received the ball will now dribble back to the line. The pattern will alternate each time. 2 soccer balls can be used, and the second to be played as soon as the person at the mid cone checks off and demands. Perform for 2 minutes.
Progressions:
1-2 combinations around the top cones.
Perform races amongst multiple groups. Most times around in a minute.
Coaching Points:
Accurate & properly weighted passes to teammates feet.
On your toes and ready to receive.
Quality first touch sets you up for success.
Communicating when both playing and receiving.
Receive back foot and sideways on for older groups.

Title: 6v4 Rondo.
Purpose:
Offensive team possesses the ball in a numbers up situation.
Organization & Objective:
In a 25x20 yard grid have a group of 6 players who will be offense and a group of 4 who will be defense. Set a pugg goal on each baseline. The offensive team will look to complete 5 consecutive passes for a point. Every 5 consecutive passes is 2 pushups for the defensive group. The defensive group will remain in the grid for 60-75 seconds. If the defensive group wins the ball they may score to one of the pugg goals. If they do the offensive team owes 10 pushups at the end of the round. Rotate the defensive players every 60 – 75 seconds.
Progressions:
If the offensive team connects 5+ passes, they may then try and score to a pugg. If successful the defensive team will owe 5 pushups at rounds end.
Coaching Points:
Quick off ball movement. Move to open space and adjust your angle to be in a supportive position.
Play with urgency. Relax but quick.
Know your supporting options before receiving the ball.
Execute: First touches, efficient touches away from pressure, properly weighted and accurate passes.

Title: 1v1 to two goals
Purpose:
Creates 1v1 situations where attackers need to use their skills and deception to create opportunities towards goal.
Organization & Objective:
In a 20x20 yard grid place pugg nets on each sideline. Create equal teams. No limitation on # of players, but 4-6 is ideal. The attacking team will start dribbling into the grid and a defender will step. The attacker can go to either of the two goals diagonally in front of them. If the defender wins the ball, they can counter to either of the other two goals. Every goal is a point. Keep score. Play for 3 minutes before switching roles.
Progressions:
Defenders start with the ball and play a pass across to the attacker.

Title: 1v1 to Goal
Purpose:
1v1 attacking play to goal.
Organization & Objective:
In a 25x20 yard grid have two teams of anywhere from 4-8 players. Soccer balls with the attacking team who will shoot at the large goal. Place 2 pugg goals opposite of the large goal for the defending team to counter to if they win the ball. The first attacker begins dribbling towards goal with an objective of creating a goal scoring opportunity. The defender comes in to prevent the attack. If the defender wins the ball, they can counter to either pugg net. Repetition ends with a shot or ball out of bounds. Players retrieve the ball, clear the pitch, and the next 2 players begin. Keep score for every goal scored. Switch attacking and defending teams after 4 minutes.

Title: 7v7 Goal Kick Build Up
Purpose:
Walking through the positional responsibilities and options we have from a goalkick.
Organization & Objective:
Set your team up in a 2-3-1 formation + the goalkeeper. No defenders. Start the ball with the goalkeeper as if taking a goal kick in a game. The ball should be placed on one corner of the small box to indicate to all players the direction that the build up will start. From there, every player has a responsibility. If placed on the right side of the box, the right defender, right midfielder, center mid, and striker should form a diamond as indicated in the animation. The same side mid should "Paint their boots" meaning feet should be on the sideline. CM stays central and striker stays high, keeping the diamond shape. The opposite side defender and midfielder tuck in. If the ball gets placed on the left, the left side defender gets ready to receive, left midfielder paints the boot, and the CM and striker move across to form the diamond. Opposite defender and outside mid tuck in. Walk through this process with the team. THEN, set a challenge that the team must keep their shape, every player must touch the ball, and then you can score. Time them to see how effective and efficient they can be.

Title: 9v9 Goal Kick Build Up
Purpose:
Walking through the positional responsibilities and options we have from a goalkick.
Organization & Objective:
Set your team up in a 3-2-3 formation + the goalkeeper. No defenders. If you play a different formation, then this can be adjusted. Start the ball with the goalkeeper as if taking a goal kick in a game. The ball should be placed on one corner of the small box to indicate to all players the direction that the build up will start. From there, every player has a responsibility. If placed on the right side of the box, the right defender, right midfielder, same side center mid, and striker should form a diamond as indicated in the animation. The same side mid should "Paint their boots" meaning feet should be on the sideline. CM stays central and striker stays high, keeping the diamond shape. The center back offers a back supporting option. The opposite side center mid, defender, and outside midfielder tuck in. If the ball gets placed on the left, the left side defender gets ready to receive, left midfielder paints the boot, and the CM and striker move across to form the diamond. Everyone else shifts. Walk through this process with the team. THEN, set a challenge that the team must keep their shape, every player must touch the ball, and then you can score. Time them to see how effective and efficient they can be.
