Description

3 stations 20 minutes long rotating each time, every activity can be changed depending on your numbers, this session will work on their ball control as well as turns to beat a player

Positive 1st touch (drive at defender, makes it easier to unbalance defender)

Smaller touches on the ball (use of pinky toe to dribble the ball) “Like Messi” as approaching defender

Unbalance defender with body movement (Use of body to sell the fake)

Final touch of move bigger (allows head to come up)

Lean to one side dropping your shoulder

Plant the same side foot to the side of the ball

Take the ball away with the outside of the opposite foot

Station 1 (20 mins)

Set-up Each player with soccer ball. 4 red cones and 4 blue cones per channel. Red cones mark corners, blue mark corners. 30x30 area

Organisation First player in line A dribbles from red cones to opposite red cones. Once they reach the blue cones in middle they will perform Scissors . Once the Player A reaches the far red cones, Player B does the same going to opposite red cones.

Coaching Points:

Go through feint technique in demonstration again.

Small (Messi) touches to the blue cones.

Big (Ronaldo) touch and accelerate after the move.

Head comes up after move

Progressions:

A dribbles to B, B dribbles to A.

A and B dribble at same time. Take away to RIGHT of each other.

Take away to LEFT of each other

Station 2 (20 mins)

Set-Up

30 x 20 yd area.

6 players, even lines.

Each blue player needs a ball on progression.

Four gates at each corner of the grid.

Organisation:

Reds start with the ball play a pass into the blues on the attackers first touch the reds look to close down the blues. and stop the blues dribbling through one of the gates. if reds win the ball can the look to dribble through a gate

Switch after 3 to 5 rounds.

Coaching Points:

Speed of approach

Timing of Feints/moves

Change of speed and direction

Weight of touches on approach vs weight of touch after beating the defender

Progressions:

Each player has a ball

2 attackers 2 defenders. Man to man defending only.

2v2 free play

30x30 Square level 1

Circle 3 yards per cone level 2

5x5 Triangle level 3

Organisation

Everyone starts in the square if the player kicks another player ball out the area they move up to the next level. if the ball is kicked out move down one level or if its the first one go back in at level 1.
