Possession 8v6.
Progression of drill: To get points, the blue team must maintain possession for 6 seconds. If they do, they get a point. If they get to 5 points within 10 minutes, they win.
Why do we do this drill?
This is a great conditioned game to work on numbers up situations. The blue team (being numbers down) will naturally have to try and keep the grid as small (boxed in) as possible, to try and be succesful. The red team is the opposite (with their numbers up) it is important to make the grid as big as possible, to be succesful.
Duration: 20 Mins.

Game to goal
Having two segments to this drill each 20 minutes.
First, the red team will attempt to stop the ball on the goal line between the goal posts. The blue team will attempt to keep possession for 6 seconds.
The second progression, is simply to goal for red. The blue team will continue to try and maintain possession for 6 seconds.
Why do we do this? The blue team will innevitably, stay tight & compact infront of their net to keep red from scoring. Red must find ways to break down blue through the run of play to create scoring chances. The key is to move the ball from side to side until you open passing lanes between blues back line. The faster you move the ball the more frequently these lanes will open.

Cool Down
With older players it is important to implement a cool down activity to allow them to start to recover for their next session.
This is a great time to cater to the teams needs. Ask them what is tight and provide stretches to help them loosen up. Have them do their stretch to the top of the box and do a light skip back to the goal line.

Dynamic warm-up
Dynamic Warm-up
Why do we do this? When desiginging a warmup it is important to consider what we are preparing our bodies to do. A traditional two line dynamic movement is great, but we never encorporate lateral or backwards cutting, for the most part. This exercise, allows players to prepare for all aspects of the game of soccer.
Players will do different patterns between cone or pillar 1,2,3. After, they will shuffle between the set of 5 pillars, before finishing with an 80% sprint to the top cone. On the way back they will do a different dynamic stretch to get ready for training.
Pattern 1:
2,3,1
Dyanamic stretches to follow: Knee to chest, lunge with a reach, quad pull.
Pattern 2:
3,2,1
Dynamic stretches to follow: Lateral cross-over lunge, lateral groin lunge, hamstring swipe ground.
Pattern 3:
1,2,3
Dynamic stretches to follow: Open gate, close gate, tin-man kicks.
Pattern 4:
1,3,2
Dynamic stretches to follow: Should be done at an all out pace. 100% sprint back to line.
Duration: 20 Mins.
