Covid Turning Zone Game - 5 Players - 2 min intervals X 5 repetitions

Improve the build up from our own half in order to move the ball into the opponent’s half

OBJECTIVE: To pass the ball forward, dribble to create passing option or play back to support to create a new situation.

ORGANIZATION : 10 by 10 yard grids with a 5 by 5 yard central zone for defenders. Small Zone for Support player on the end of each outside grid. Player A plays to Player B who turns and trys to find the opposite Player B. Player C can intercept the ball and block passing lines. If Player B can not play forward, they can play back to Player A and switch roles. NOTE : USE 2 Exerise organizations so all players are involved.

VARIATIONS- Add Goals, gates, targets for the defenders to get the ball into when they win the ball, or add Space behind final zone and 1 GK to defend 2 goals. LINK Field set up to favor the Key Qualities of the training focus.

PLAYER ACTIONS: Spread out, Pass/dribble forward, Support the attack

KEY WORDS: Opening, Connect, Take space, Help.

GUIDED QUESTIONS: 1. How do we create an opening? 2. When do you pass forward to connect with a teammate? 3. How can you help the teammate with the ball? 4. When do you dribble forward?

ANSWERS: 1. By spreading out. 2. When you have opening to pass through. 3. Support him/her by creating passing options. 4. When you have an opening and or space in front.

Note - First break: Coach asks questions; players do not answer but play to discover them. Second break: Coach asks questions and players share the answers.
