Attacking Corner Kicks (20 min)
Equipment: 8 Bibs (Two Colors), 5 soccer balls and a large goal
Set Up:
Dimensions: Penalty Box on Half the Field
Instruct each player on their movement:
Player A and player B move back and away about 5 yards.
Player C (at the near post) moves forward about 5 yards.
Player D (at the far post) moves forward.
Player E (on the keeper) drops to the 6 yard line.
Player F (on the penalty line) must run towards the keeper as the ball is played.

Attacking – Free Kick (20-30 min)
Equipment: 13 Bibs (Two colors), 5 soccer balls and a large goal
Set Up:
Dimensions: Penalty Box and Half the Field
Two Defenders and goalkeeper will have same color bib (first color)
Attackers (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J) will have same color bib (second color)
· Player A and player B stand in the start position.
· On Coach’s command, Player B will outswing high ball to back of 6 yard box.
· Player A will look and move forward to pull a defender out.
· Players G, H, and I, attack the ball played in and also provide a screen as player F curves and runs behind them to simultaneously crash the 6 yard box.
· Player E is also available for a quick short pass to shoot direct or take a touch and strike on goal.
· Player J holds the edge of the area and looks for the rebound or cleared ball.
· Repeat Drill
· Options:
o Repeat drill with an inswing cross from Player B.
o Repeat drill with a short pass from Player A to Player B to drive the line and have Player B cross on the ground or the air for a deep cross.
o Repeat drill with a short pass to Player E to find an opening to shoot on goal.
Coaching Points:
1. The main target should be player F deep in the six yard box.
2. Attackers must analyze and choose the best option for scoring a goal.
3. Players F, G, H, I should all be good in the air.
4. Considerations should be given to the quality of the goalkeeper on the type of ball delivered.

Defending – Corner Kicks – Zonal Marking (20 min)
Equipment: 10 Bibs (Two colors) and 5 Soccer balls, and a large goal.
Set Up:
Dimensions: Penalty Box and Half the field
Put one player on the 6 yard box in front of the near post
Put one player by the near post
Put one player 5 yards away from the far post within the 6 yard box.
Put one player outside of the 6 yard box parallel to the goalkeeper.
Put two players outside the 18 yard box.
Instruct each player on defending responsibilities:
Player D and E protect in front of the near post and at the near post. They must be able to perform headers well.
Player F must move in and be ready to attack the first ball with strength and aggression.
Player G marks space at the back post and patrols the back area for over-hit balls towards the back post. For centrally hit balls, this player drops back onto the back post.
Player H closes down short corners. If the ball is delivered into the box he/she drops back to cover second balls
Player I is responsible for balls that are cleared to the edge of the box, as well as short corners.
Coaching Points:
· Defenders must attack the ball at all times possible during a drilled cross to remove it from the 6 yard box area.
· Players must use strength and aggression to make contact with the ball.
· Players must be skilled at headers and head the ball out of the 6 yard box.
· Players must be aware at all times to analyze the zoning area in order to defend throughout.

Defending – Free Kick (20 min)
Equipment: Penalty Box, Half the field, and Five Dummies
Set Up:
Dimensions: 18-25 yrds for free kick
· Set up Defensive wall with 4-5 dummies.
· Second dummy must be lined up with the near post
· Put players A, B, C, D, on the 18 yard penalty box line on the left of the far post.
· Player F will be the free kick kicker.
· Put player G on either side of the halfway line.
Instruct each player on their movement:
Player D will be the “bullet” player that runs to become the 6th player of the wall.
Players A, B, and C, will defend man to man
Player G will be an outlet player and move into play to counterattack.
Coaching Points:
· Defensive wall is created to assist goalie with direct and indirect free kicks.
· Man to Man defenders should use strength and aggression to avoid attacker contact.
· If players are used instead of dummies, players must react to a low kick without jumping as a unit.
· If players are used instead of dummies, players must react to a high kick by jumping as a unit.
· Defenders must be prepared in advance for the possibility of a quick kick or set play.
· Based on where the ball is going to be spotted, defenders must anticipate that a wall will be formed and already be moving into position before the call for the wall is made.
· Players must be aware of the area being defended for possible counterattack opportunities.
· Goalkeeper must be prepared to defend accurately if ball makes it to the 6 yard box.

Set Up:
Dimensions: Set two lanes with two cones each about 15 to 30 yards apart
Divide the players into two lines.
