TR1 : Keep the ball moving (10-15mins)

Set up: 

  • 3 zones marked with cones (5x10 each zone)
  • 2 mini goals, one in each corner at the last zone
  • 4 cones, one line per cone

Organization:

 Groups of 4.

Players start in defensive zone must make at least 3 passes within that zone; one player advances to receive and then teammates advance to continue passes. To finish the drill the the first player to receive a pass in the last zone ; passes to a second teammate who will pass/shoot in to one of the mini goals at the end.

Progression :

Decrease amount of touches allowed ; defensive pressure. Defensive pressure will start as passive to shadow players and force passes and progress to full opposition to stimulate game.

Coaching points: 

  • communicate with teammate to ensure awareness of movement
  • control the weight of the pass
  • anticipate teammates movement to gauge passes
  • encourage movement off the ball
