A pass to B

2 and 5 recover to cut out pass (passive only)

B rwtb to red cone then cross into C

2 and 5 get inside B and prevent cross (passive only)

Player movement: A to 2/5, 2/5 to B, B to C, C to D, D to A

Players waiting at A perform dynamic stretching

Progression:

2/5 defenders now try to cut out pass and stop cross

Coaching Points:

B wants pass in front to run onto

D to receive ball side on to pass back to A

2/5 need to recover quickly and get inside B (anticipate A's pass to get back in time)

Positioning Game (15 mins)

Positioning Game:

Organisation (12-14 players):

Half pitch

Two teams in a back four formation (2/3/4/5) with two jokers (6/8)

One or two bouncers at each end depending on numbers

Explanation:

Play starts from one end

Back four combine with middle two to create a 6v4

Attacking team to try and get ball to opposite end-player (no, minimal high balls)

Defending team try to prevent ball reaching end-player and win ball

If defending team win ball they counter-attack at pace and opposition recover to defend

If attacking team get ball to end-player, end-player must pass ball back to defending team asap to start quick counter-attack

Bouncers are always on team with possession

End-players (either one or two) stay as central as possible

Team Task:

As soon as the other team starts their attack get into good defensive positions

Player Tasks:

2/5 play wide and high in attack then recover as quickly as possible to get inside attacking wide player

2/5 look to recover to defensive line with 3/4 if counter is on other side of pitch

Bouncer/GK play ball out as quickly as possible

6/8 look to switch play out wide as much as possible

Player Cues:

6/8 can you cover as much central ground as possible and look to receive ball to play other side of pitch

2/5 can you anticipate counter-attack and recover to either defend against wide ball carrier or organise defense with 3/4

Game Training (25 mins)

Organisation (12-14 players):

1 x large goal

3 x small goals

Balls with Blue 3/4

Explanation:

Blue team in a 1-3-3 formation attacking large goal

Yellow team in a 4-2 formation attacking small goals

Play always starts from Blue 3/4

Blue attack quickly looking to get ball to wide forwards

Yellow defend large goal, need to recover when Blue counter quickly

If Yellow win ball in-play and score in any small goal from a quick counter - 2 points

Progression (if necessary): Blue have time limit to attack and score (10-15secs)

Team Task:

Yellow team to organise defense against quick counter

Player Tasks:

Yellow 2/5 play wide and high in attack then recover as quickly as possible to get inside attacking wide player

Yellow 2/5 look to recover to defensive line with 3/4 if counter is on other side of pitch

Bouncer/GK play ball out as quickly as possible

Yellow 6/8 recover to organise defensive block of 6 players

Player Cues:

6/8 can you block passing channels from opposition Mids/FB to forwards

2/5 can you anticipate counter-attack and recover to either defend against wide ball carrier or organise defense with 3/4

Yellow GK/Blue 3/4 can you release ball quickly to start quick counter
