Around the Cone (10 mins)

ORGANIZATION (Physical Environment / Equipment / Players)

Cones 2 yards apart with cones 8 yards across, 1 ball per player, Maximum 3players per line.

COACHING POINTS / KEY CONCEPTS

Do each activity 3 times.

Non ball progression: Run, skip, gallop, side shuffle, run backward.

With ball progression: Players dribble with outside of toe toward the cone.Right foot only/inside cut around cone, Left foot only/inside cut around cone.Right foot only/outside cut around cone/ Left foot only, outside cut aroundcone, either foot, pull back at cone. Fake/Take, Chop, hook

COACHING POINTS / KEY CONCEPTS

Attacking player dribbles and attempts to beat the defender who is protecting the line. Defender may only move side to side.

Coaching Points: keep moving forward, do your move and excelerate.

15x10 yd fields with small goals.

COACHING POINTS / KEY CONCEPTS

1v1 with counter goals and active defender. Depending on the level of player, play starts with a pass across to the attacker or attacker starts on a dribble.

Coaching points: attack the space, cut to the goal, throw your move early

Offense vs. Defense Progression (25 mins)

ORGANIZATION (Physical Environment / Equipment / Players)

1/2 7v7 field, goal w/GK, counter goals

COACHING POINTS / KEY CONCEPTS

Attacking team attacks the big goal. Defending team attempts to win the ball and attack the counter goals. Stop play and restart if activity becomes slow and neither team is attacking. After goal, ball goes out of bounds, GK gets the ball, play restarts from top of the area. Split group into two teams w/ 5 minute games. Attacking and defending teams switch. Keep score

Progression: 2v1-10 minutes, 2v2-10 minutes, 3v2-10 minutes

Coaching points: Attack the 1v1. Don't pass if defender is in the passing lane

Scrimmage

Attacking team attacks the big goal. Defending team attempts to win the ball and attack the counter goals.

Coaching points: Laws of the game apply: goal kicks, throw-ins, corners, etc. Play for 12 minutes, 3 minute 1/2 time, switch sides.
